Aizu Kogen Daikura review by Canadian Freerider
It is my 2nd experience in this small, but charming resort. This time, it was after a night of snow fall and it made a huge difference.

The snow conditions were excellent. Groomed on most of the tracks with some terrain left virgin, including the top expert section. However, the top section is accessible only by an aged monoplace lift. The powder was light and very fluffy. There was plenty of place to do freeriding in fresh powder. The staff seem to be permissive and the restricted area are clearly defined by ropes.

The station has many beginners tracks (not that it is a criteria for me) and is ideal for families. The rest area offers enough seating capacity.

The ticket price is a little bit expensive for its size, and 500 JPY is charged for the parking. As usual, it was uncrowded.

I would definitely return to this resort if I am in the area, especially after a good snow fall.

Verdict : 8.0/10 (when there is fresh snow)
Date visited: From 04 January, 2010
Snow condition on visit: Fresh snow & powder
Things I liked: Not crowded, freeride possible, friendly staff
Things I didn't like: Small
