Asahidake Ropeway review
I was definitely mislead by "the tallest mountain in Hokkaido," I was expecting a lot more vert.

As it was time at Asahidake went like this - wait for the rope way, battle the wind for 500m to get across a skating rink of an upper mountain, enjoy 15 of the best turns you'll find anywhere in blower pow, freeze your ass off riding a flat cattrack back to the ropeway, wait 10 min for the ropeway to leave - repeat 10 times a day.

This is definitely not a typical ski resort, the snow and the terrain are amazing, but you have to work for it. \r\n\r\nAlso not real boarder friendly - I wish I would have had my skis.

There is a very cool hostel/ryokan in the village with an awesome onsen and great food in the village that is worth a stay at.
Date visited: From January, 2009
Snow condition on visit: 40cm of fresh on a solid crust
Things I liked: Snow kept coming
Things I didn't like: Cold, windy, not much vert
