Miyagi Zao Sumikawa Snow Park review
I got there at 7.45am wanting to be first up the mountain - says it opens at 8am. BS. Hanging around till 9am when it actually opened!

Nice friendly place. Top third is steep and has some powder and tree runs. Bottom two thirds is flat as a pancake. makes the resort really small, just hitting the same runs over and over. That said if there is powder it's awesome, steep backcountry feeling and no patrols / no roped off areas :-).

Good park but busy and one big jump run.

You can get a snow cat bus to the top of the mountain, then ski/board down. Not done it yet but supposed to be very steep for first 500m then okay / easy / boring (?) after. (In theory from the top you could ski the other way and hit Yamagata Zao but its at least 90mins drive back round). Cat leaves at 11am, cost about 2000 yen need to book in advance
Date visited: From January, 2007
Snow condition on visit: Powder off piste, groomed pistes
Things I liked: Quiet, steep, relaxed atmosphere
Things I didn't like: Small, flat at the bottom
