Asahidake Ropeway
You can hike up past the ropeway, which I did in the summer when there was no snow.

But in winter, there are plenty of places 2 ride/ski, and there weren't 2 many people.

I went on a sat. My favorite mt. in japan.
Date visited: From January, 2001
Snow condition on visit: Bluebird
Things I liked: Only 1 ropeway, endless fields 2 choose where 2 build your kicker, little crowds. I don't think of this place as a resort, but a HUGE mountain with tons of places 2 play. Kazu @ the visitor's center speaks English and is very down 2 earth
Things I didn't like: The scent of sulfur coming out of the (supposedly) dormant volanco.
