Hakuba Goryu review by Mike44
Started early morning (First Gondola 8.15)

Ground conditions hard but on groomed course was not so bad as long as you don't fall! Got a bit nasty by noon when surface gets a bit churned up and more obstacles (Other people) try to get here when there is powder and come on a weekday

3 or 4 stars, I cant decide, maybe 3 and a half.

This is a Prince Hotel which is a golf/tennis place in summer. It has one of the most picturesque settings of all the ski resorts I've been to. For a small resort with 4 lifts there is a good variety of levels and course length, good lifts and, midweek, virtually no people and ticket discounts. However on Wednesday the No4 lift to the top of the hill was closed.

The weather on the Saturday was not the best. Snow was falling all day, but made for great powder conditions. Sunday was one of this years best days on the snow. Clear fine weather made for a great day.

The Skyline course is a great way to ensure that your body will feel pain, especially if you ride it later in the day.

The snow park is also good fun for those who want get some air.

All in all, a very well

I must agree with the other reviewers who said that this resort was just too flat.

Snow at the top of the resort was nice in the morning, fairly light and fluffy, but with the sun shining it became pretty slushy in the afternoon. It was admittedly a warm day though, but the low elevation was probably part of the cause as well.

The runs were overwhelmingly flat, had to help push my snowboarding friend many times.

Groomed expert runs were nice, though

Niseko Grand Hirafu review by powder ranger
This is a fantastic resort with facilities and three main resorts to ski, it snowed 22 out of 23 days and we had powder up to our eye balls most of the time, if you know where to go.

I am extremly concerned about the Australian visitors in particular creating a "Bali" in this resort - they were inpolite to the japanese, they constantly ducked ropes into dangerous bowls, cornice areas and ridges making it highley hazerdous for skiers below.

Kagura review by march-san
Great day at Kagura.

Recommended by owner/operator of Asahikan hotel which is the friendliest place I have ever visited in japan. It is run by true skiers who cater to the guests to make them comfortable and happy. They checked weather and conditions, provided some discount coupons, drove me to and picked me up from the ski area. Good food.... Give them a try.

Kagura was also great. All the variety I could ask for and

Hmm...not cheap and reminded me of Australia which is not a good thing for snow.

Snow was ulta-hard packed and the resort is way too spread out to be convenient.

And they lied outrageously about snow depth - no way there was 110cm

First off, it snowed all day, and although visibility was slightly poor the trails stayed fresh, and off piste was more than a blast.

I have been here about 6 times, this time they centralized all of their kickers on one run and made the biggest kicker I've ever seen at the end of the run. I didnt attempt it but all of them are well made unless you go too slow, then its just painful. Rails ranged from low

Winghills Shirotori Resort review by Mike44
Due to very strong winds the Gondola was shut till 1 pm. It snowed hard also so visibility at times was, like 2 metres, but the lovely powder snow made it all worth it.

It cleared up by 1, the wind dropped the gondola got going, not many crowds, all in all totally awesome dude

IOX-AROSA review by Timmy
Gotta give it 4 cos I live close and ski there all the time.

Never seen much of a line at night skiing and usually can find some powder. If you look hard for it. Terrain park is getting better. Good for learning in the TP

Hachi Kita Kogen review
This place has enough lifts and runs to keep everyone happy.

Can get crowded but seems to be more crowded at Hachi Kogen around the snowpark. If you get here early, the half day pass 3,500yen from 7.30am-1pm on weekends is good value. There are some places to find good powder here but on this day the ski patrol had closed part of the mountain and were taking the lift passes off people going out of bounds so we

Iwappara review
Iwappara is a great place to take someone who is just learning to ski or board or if you want to have a relaxing day on the slopes. It has great wide runs that allow everyone a lot of room to move about or you can head further up the hill to have for more of a challenge.

The staff are very good, and ensure a great day

There was an enormous amount of snow laid out at the beginning of this season. It felt like you were riding backcountry....sort of. Okay, not really.

Anyways, you'd figure with the amount of snow, this place would be awesome. Not so. The mountain was small. 2 little kiddy runs, which were too flat to have fun on. A little higher up the mountain, it got better, but as I said, the mountain was way too small. An expert rider can spend

The slopes. While you can have a real nice long run, it had the oddest layout.

Easy runs at the very top, leading into some intermediate, then into expert runs. Then back into intermediate, right into beginner runs, and back into intermediate runs.

How in the world is someone suppose to learn there? Not to big a deal for me, as I rode everything anyways.

I feel a consolidated park would be a lot better then their layout. Off on the left is

Kandatsu Kogen review by greenmachine
This was the beginning of the winter-break season and therefore it should/could have been very crowded. However, it didnt seem crowded, no lift lines, runs clear of human hazards and some good, good skiing.

A smallish place but not too small. The lifts are fast and the runs are wide and interesting. Think about this place if the gondolas at Naeba are closed and you want to avoid the *crowds*.

They make the TV show segment dekiru/dekinai here, where the young
