Echo Valley

As a 'local' resort Echo Valley is pretty good. It's great for an afternoon's riding. It has two quite clearly defined areas, one of which has a very steep, ungroomed run. With no new snow, it can be horrific, but with a layer of powder on the moguls it's a great run.

There's a bit of action to be had in the woods at the edges, but not much.

Well, having skied the season at Getou (almost 50 days) I can say that it is indeed highly underrated. The snow is consistently good (although it can get windy at times) and there is a lot of exploring to be done for advanced skiers/boarders.

The resort is quite small (compared to some New Zealand resorts...) but there are not many places where you can lap powder runs (if you know where to go) on the gondola and only ever see
