Niseko has a wide range of slopes and facilities (pensions, hotels).

Higashiyama is ok but the slopes of Hirafu aren't well marked but it didn't matter because falling on the black diamonds in 2 feet of powder is practically painless (ie. good for the beginner snowboarder). Some Australian pro boarders claimed "Powder doesnt get any better than this." Even at the end of the day the snow is in great condition. The hills at Hirafu are better for boarding - wider,

I loved this resort.

It's only my second year boarding, but my three days there improved me dramatically. I was there at Christmas time, and, although there were many people there, the slopes were never crowded. It was like it was my own private resort. In addition to a variety of courses of varying levels, the powder and off-piste stuff was great. I've never had so much fun.

In addition, the night skiing area covers a huge part of the

Good for powder freaks who like natural powder kickers, lots of challenging terrain as well some flat spots so fast wax required.

The h-pipe is difficult with its narrow channel. There are two small parks with decent t-tops and rail. There is a lot of maintenance in the park so good riding most of the time.

Compared to other resorts I give it high marks

What an incredible experience!

I always heard about niseko, "you gotta go to niseko!" and "you haven't skied japan's best until you've been to niseko!". but i also heard a lot of not-so-great reviews (on this website) that left me with very mixed feelings. So what I did when I went up to niseko, was to set my expectations low, so either way I wouldn't be surprised. Well, surprised I was, because after having set my expectations so low, we

I don't know what I did to end up in Hokkaido but I'm one of the lucky people in the world. Being able to go to one of the best powder mountains, Niseko Hirafu, on a regular basis is just fantastic. Like everywhere it has it's sucky days, but average days are great and great days are just awesome.

If you get a chance to go, check out the Right side as you look at the mountain, there's couloirs, tree runs,

Can't think of anything better than this place to hang out.

I think it's the next best thing to heaven. The vistas are just sooooo magnificent. One can't help but admire God's wondrous creations. Powder...heaps of it.

Simply superb...just stunning!

Niseko Hirafu could arguably be the best powder RESORT in Japan.

If you don't mind some crowds on the weekends and over the holidays. There is always the backcountry there... and Hirafu is a great place to find guides to take you out. The summit run is kicking…..hit the top single seater lift and make the 20 min kick in to the top ridge. Waist deep after a good dump... just get up there first thing in the morning before

Wow! I went to Niseko Hirafu in early January this year for a snowboarding holiday with a couple of mates.

For my first time snowboarding, I don't think that we could have gone to a better place. There were many different runs with heaps of lifts, gondolas etc, which gave me plenty of space and time to learn.
