I visited Iwatake on the last weekend of it's season. It was a busy 3 day weekend and I expect even more people were drawn to Hakuba after a late season snow storm the day before.
I spent most of the morning in the "view" area of the resort (at the top far back of the resort.) The snow here was great and there were a few nice spots between courses to pop into. By 10:30 the queue for the pair
The resort got an overnight dump before our early morning arrival, so that may cloud my review a bit, but I liked this place way more than Goryu / 47 for one simple reason: design.
Unlike many resorts that only use one face of the mountain, Iwatake seems to make use of all sides of the mountain, which means that most courses start off from one central area that can be accessed via gondola. You'd think this would lead to overcrowding,
