Kagura Mitsumata Cottage is in the small village of Mitsumata, approx. 8km from Yuzawa on route 17.
The easiest access to the Kagura Ski Resort is via the Mitsumata Ropeway, a short walk across the adjacent car park from the Cottage. The Kagura Ski Resort is comprised of Kagura, Mitsumata and Tashiro. The Mitsumata area is small, with mainly beginner runs. Mitsumata is used to access Kagura, the highest part of the mountain. Kagura is the best area for tree skiing, off-piste skiing, and backcountry access. The Kagura Gondola run is one of the longest beginner courses in the area, with green runs from the top of the Gondola back to Mitsumata Ropeway. The southern portion of the mountain is Tashiro, the largest of the ski areas. This area interconnects with the Naeba ski area, via the Dragondola. The snow park comprises approx. 35% beginner runs, 35% intermediate and 30% advanced runs. Our annual snow fall is about 10 meters and the peak elevation is 1,845 meters above sea level. It is a great place for powder snow.
