Blue skies and sun
Blue skies and sun again today. Not as warm as it was earlier in the week, mainly due to the cooling breeze that is around today.
Tenjin now estimate that 40% of the the area at the top is ski-able. The hot weather and then that day of rain have really taken its toll. Before there was a pretty deep base but it taking a bashing every day. Skiers and borders seem to be outnumbered by sightseers most days.
More fine weather in the last few days thought it has cooled down a fair bit. The warm recent weather though has meant that the snow has quickly been melting away and things are getting patchy at Kumanoyu though still good cover up at Yokoteyama.
It is still generally warm and fine weather to be out on the mountain.
Today is the last day of the season for the Kumanoyu resort and from tomorrow (Monday), only Yokoteyama/Shibutoge will remain open.
Lifts operating as of 9th May (subject to change):
Kumanoyu will be open until 9th May. Yokoteyama/Shibutoge plan to be open until late May. Read more ...

Just a quick update on this last day of the season in Hakuba - in a few hours Goryu will close for the last time this season. It is fairly busy up on the mountain as people get in their last ski and snowboard of the season but there is still good cover up there. More fine weather but it has cooled down since the hot days late on in Golden Week, not quite reaching 20 degrees today in the village.
We'll be back soon with a season wrap-up with some info on what lifts will be open for the summer months in Hakuba. Read more ...
