Snow and weather reports posted on Sunday 26th May 2019

It suddenly hit me this morning that the snow has stuck around a lot longer this season. We are well into April now, and although the Kitanomine Zone is closed for the season, the ground has not broken through the remaining snow pack yet. Although the roads in Kitanomine are all clear, gardens have some time to go yet before the snow cover disappears.
The main factor today in the weather is wind. It is moderate at the moment and that wind chill is feeling quite cold at around -3deg. Cold temperatures overnight mean the snow pack will be nice and firm.
Tomorrow should be reasonable weather with sun and light to moderate wind forecast. Rain is predicted, but not unitl evening. Read more ...

Clear skies, sun
It's blue skies all around from early on this morning in Yuzawa and it should warm up to be at least 12 degrees in town early this afternoon. More of the same is forecast for tomorrow as well - perhaps even warmer - but there seems to be a chance of rain falling on Sunday (last day of the season at Naeba) with generally cloudy conditions.
Official resort snow depths @ 8th April 10, AM: Mt Naeba: 130cm Kagura: 330cm Kagura - Tashiro: 280cm GALA Yuzawa: 180cm Kandatsu Kogen: 170cm

Bright sunshine from first thing this morning which is always a nice way to wake. Deceptive though, as when you head outside there is a chill in the air. It's due to warm up as the day goes on,
The snow up at Tenjin is still good. It was a bit hard yesterday due to the colder temperatures but it does keep it in good condition. The park is in good condition with a big line with a couple of pretty big hits, a medium line with two jumps and three sets of different rails. There is also a little training jump and low box for those starting out. Some good riders up there at the moment.
It is going to be another fine and sunny day here by the looks of things. A chilly start to the day but it will warm up as the day moves on and is right now 4 degrees in the village.
The Kagura Mitsumata Sunrise Ski will be on tomorrow morning again from 7am with the Mitsumata Ropeway, Mitsumata No1 quad lift, Kagura Gondola and Kagura No1 lifts opening early. This Sunrise Ski service will be operating on Saturdays and holidays until 5th May.
The Naeba Shuttle Bus had stopped running at the end of the day on 4th April, but from tomorrow - until 5th May - it will once again operate between Naeba and the Tashiro Ropeaway station at Kagura. The service is available to guests at the Naeba Prince hotel (and is free).
The following lifts at Naeba are now operating:

It is still be possible to ride down from the top of Takenodaira lift (NOT the top of the resort) to the base at Naeba.
Most of the Kagura areas remain open.

It's anothe sunny morning in Nozawa and while faily cold overnight, it is warming up quickly this morning and a high of around 12 degrees is likely after lunch.... look for more of the same tomorrow with even warmer temperatures. T-shirt skiing day tomorrow perhaps? (Bring something more just in case!)
So good visibility, good spring conditions and good weather likely tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the pick for the weekend though as it looks like we may well be seeing rainfall on Sunday.
