Furano Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 8:01am
Weather conditions: huge snow flakes falling
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Heavy snow yesterday afternoon stopped around 7pm, however the wind was very strong and was blowing around a lot of snow so there will be wind blown pockets of fresh snow up on the mountain today.

It started snowing again around 6am this morning huge white snow flakes and is expected through till lunch time. Snow is expected to start again later in the evening and all day tomorrow.

Today is the first weekend for Kitanomine lift operations, so it should be a great day.

The visibility today is variable, with spots of flat light so be careful out there.   Read more ...

Niseko Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 8:12am
Weather conditions: over-cast
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
The groomers yesterday were predominantly fantastic but with some bumps and ice on the lower front heading down to the Alpin Hotel from the Ace #2 Quad. The off piste was cut up and heavy which presented some challenging/fun skiing depending on your point of view. However, with very few people on the hill it made up for some of the lack of perfect conditions.

With no new snowfall overnight the off piste will still remain cut up and hopefully the groomed runs will still keep a good edge. The visibility will be clear but some flat light arriving with the clouds coming in with the winds from the west-north-west. The temperature should remain much like yesterday, -3/-9.

The village is living again with the arrival of more tourists but watch out for some construction on the way up to the hill that might get in your way.   Read more ...

Yuzawa Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 9:23am
Weather conditions: Cloud, rain (town level)
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
At the moment there are a few spots of rain falling at town level and generally a bit of a dull and grey cloudy morning. It is about +2 degrees here at the moment and will rise to around +5 degrees later on in the morning.

As we mentioned before Tashiro is opening up part of its resort this morning and tomorrow.

Kagura are saying that there is snow falling up there this morning, but looking at the cams from Naeba it looks unlikely that it is significant snowfall.

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 9:30am
Weather conditions: Cloud, light snow high up
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
This morning is a fairly cloudy one, but a few moments ago there was a big of sunlight shining through (gone again now). There is also reportedly a bit of light snow falling high up at the top of the mountain this morning. So changeable weather conditions, with generally cloud on the forecast.

Looks like tomorrow will be colder and bring with it a decent chance of snowfall.

In resort operations, the Paradise four-lift will be operating for the weekend.   Read more ...

Shiga Kogen Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 9:48am
Weather conditions: Cloud, sun
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
A bit of a surprise this morning - while we were expecting cloud or maybe rain/snow, we awake to blue skies and some cloud and a generally very fine morning in the Shiga Kogen region. The word is that it might cloud over more this afternoon bringing with it a chance of some snowfall later on and into tomorrow.

Temperatures this morning around -2 in the central Maruike area, and expect things to be colder tomorrow.   Read more ...

A clear and cold night with little thaw followed by a beautifully clear, still and sunny morning.
Warm and clear conditions still coming up the valleys from the Kanto plain, but winds expected to swing round to from the northwest in the afternoon. The high clouds sitting up along the range waiting to dump when the wind direction changes.
Higher slopes sunny, clear and above freeze point.

Hakuba Now!

Saturday 8th December 2007, 10:22am
Weather conditions: Clear Sunny Skies
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
About 5-6 cms of snow up top last night and strong winds have filled in the gullies. It is a sunny today and solar aspects are already getting spring-like and a little slushy.

Still some fluffy powder to be found in shaded aspects.

It is a beautiful day with amazing views.
