It's November and that hopefully means we are now just a handful of weeks away from the first ski lifts moving for the 2018-2019 season. Exciting times.
Temperatures have been dropping and the autumn colours have been pretty spectacular this year. On the 1st November I was looking at the thermometer here near base and it said +4C. Brrrrr. A look at the webcam showed some white up there too. (An interesting note, the mountains in the region apparently saw their first sprinklings slightly later than last year).
The Zao Echo Line road connecting us with Miyagi Prefecture to the east closed for the winter on Sunday evening. It will be closed until 26th April. So from now access to Zao is just from the west.
As always in the run up to a new season, everyone is busy, busy, busy. And perhaps even a bit busier than that.
So here we are, waiting for the first snow in village and for the snow to start falling properly. It's still early so lets see what the next few weeks bring.
