Rain last night and rain this morning in the town area, some wet snow up top according to the resorts.
600 meters of Kagura Main Gelende and about 1km of the upper part of the Gondola Course are open with up to 50cm of snow up there (man-made plus a bit of natural). Tashiro is closed. A lift ticket will cost you 4000 yen adults (3000 yen for children), and the car parking is free until the 12th December (yipee!)
Hmmm.. Rain again last night in the region, not turning into the hoped-for snow. Early this morning, eventually it has turned to snow - slowly coming down. Lots of fog around, visibility is very poor. It's cold enough, so we're all hoping that heavier snow is just around the corner. Read more ...

Bad news: It looks like the 30cm of snow depth the resort announced were a hoax. After a few people actually tried to ski yesterday the soil came through and the slope had to be closed again. You didn't miss anything on the opening day. Due to strong winds the gondola lift stopped and people were brought back down by bus. That zigzag thing you see on the right of the slope is not a new snowpark! It's a summer-toboggan-run. That's the reason why there is another chair lift there, which is usually used only in summer and very busy winter days (eg. New Year's Holidays). Read more ...

Windy, intermittent light snow
The odd snowflake is coming down now at village level and the parts of the slopes that are visible through the clouds look a tad whiter than before. It doesn't look like we're going to get all that much this time though.
The temperature is staying down, so roll on the snow machines! Read more ...
