This morning the grounds were damp and the air moist. It has been raining since yesterday and more rain is expected for the next two days. The mountain ranges are covered by gray clouds and the current temperature is 12 degrees. We expect a drop overnight down to 3 degrees but nothing below minus Celsius at this time.
One entry point into Hakuba is the national highway route 148 and presently there has been no report of ice on the road yet, it is just very wet so please drive safely.
Today is the type of day I would say a bowl of pumpkin soup would go down well. Not here in Hakuba! Japanese love noodles and the local delicacy is soba. A hot broth with meat, seafood or vegetable toppings is a hearty meal after a session on the slopes.
With the cold days approaching Hakuba, the local winter menus are being prepared as the season of autumn draws to an end this month. Read more ...
