Weather conditions: Light Snow

10cms of fresh snow overnight in addition to the 20cms since yesterday lunchtime has left a heavy base over the entire village and mountain. The Ace Pair No 3 Lift will be moving again this morning, with only the Centre course open. This is the small orange chair just above the Centre 4 lift. The course is quite short but ungroomed, meaning powder for the early risers.   Read more ...

Better news this morning. After heavy rain, strong winds and thunder storms overnight, the morning sees the weather clearing up a little and some snow left behind to the lowest levels so far. Nothing deep, mind - but better than it has been over recent days.   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Monday 6th December 2004, 10:41am
Weather conditions: Broken cloud, light snow.
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Finally, SNOW!

What started as rain yesterday with temperatures hovering around 13 degrees C turned to snow overnight. Snow in the valley was heavy and only amounted to 1 cm where as snow at higher elevations was mostly graupel or Styrofoam type balls of snow that are associated with high moister and high wind snow storms.

During the night winds were very strong out of the North West. It was definitely a sight for sore eyes to wake to snow this morning. We can expect present light light flurries to taper into the afternoon and then snows to start again early tomorrow morning. Hakuba Goryu, Hakuba 47 and Happo are hoping to restart snow making with expected lower temperatures tonight and start to create a base on the slopes. Hakuba 47 says that if low temperatures persist then they will hopefully open a few runs this week end.
