Brilliant blue skies
Warmer overnight and with a high of 13 degrees forecast in the main Yuzawa town area and it will be warm up at Kagura even today. Other than that, not much else to report really this morning. Oh, apart from there's still 380cm of snow. ;)
Tomorrow we will likely get more cloud but it will stay warm and then the dreaded rain is due on Friday..... maybe even high up.
Almost exactly the same conditions as yesterday early on this morning in Nozawa. Things really warmed up yesterday and just about hit 10 degrees in the afternoon from what I can gather. Today will be a very similar story and already it is feeling very mild with the sun out and no clouds.
It should stay warm through into the weekend but unlikely that we will escape rain on Friday and perhaps also Saturday before a return to clearer conditions.
Planned lifts operating until 22nd April (subject to change!):
-Paradise -Schneider -Challenge -Utopia A -Utopia B -Rinkan -Isemiya -Uenodaira Snow Park
There may be the changes to the above on any given day, so if you are planning a visit and this is important it's best to ask just to get the latest! We will endeavor to keep the above updated each day.
The Ryuoo Ski Park resort (which is about 20-25 minutes from Nozawa by car) also plans to be part open on the following days: April 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and also from April 29th until May 8th. Read more ...

This morning is almost a carbon copy of yesterday morning. Clear skies, the sun out and after a cold night it is quickly starting to warm up with a high of around 12 degrees likely in the village later on this afternoon.
After this run of clear days we can expect things to start changing tomorrow with more cloud and then after that we need to be prepared for the prospect of rain - even higher up the mountains - on Friday and maybe even into Saturday. It should stay warm though and then the sun should be back with us on Sunday, according to the latest local forecast.

Sunny clear skies
Bright sun woke me up again today and looking outside it looks just like yesterday. Going to be another fine spring day out there. Not much more to add really! It's already above zero and temps will rise to make this a t-shirt day for some, for sure. Just don't forget the sunscreen too. Until when, you ask? Probably more clouds tomorrow and then on Friday a chance of rain or hopefully snow... all going to depend on how much those temperatures can dip of course but my guess is that we may well be getting at least some rainfall before the weekend. Hopefully it can limit itself and fall in the form of snow overnight into Saturday.

What I said yesterday morning seems like it will be the case - more of the same today but just warmer. Temperatures will probably rise to around 13-14 degrees in Yuzawa this afternoon and are already rising quickly with the sun out doing it's thing this morning.
And.... more of the same is forecast again for tomorrow, so the run of fine days looks set to continue. Until Friday that is when it will remain warm but also be wet with rain forecast for even higher elevations later on Friday into Saturday. Even Kagura probably won't escape. Sunday looks the best bet for clearer weather over the weekend at the moment.
Part open until 10th April: - Kandatsu Kogen - Nakazato Snow Wood
Mostly open until 22nd May: - Kagura (+ Mitsumata) [see Naeba Now for the latest]
All other resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma area are now closed for the season.
Official snow depths @ Wednesday 6th April 2011 AM
The day has started off very warm and it looks like temperatures may break through the +10deg mark. Spring is definitely here. On slope conditions are still very good, and with great weather, the last few days have been excellent. It still looks like there will be some rain heading this way on Friday. Lets hope this turns into a nice fresh layer of snow - that would be most welcome just before the weekend. Read more ...
