It is a perfect spring day with full sunshine bathing the resort. The sun is forecast to stay throughout the day, as are the blue skies. The view up the valley to the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range is at its best. Snow conditions will be firm at first but soften quickly on the lower slopes once the sun warms the surface up. Some light snow is forecast for tomorrow and the weekend. Read more ...

I'm back in Niseko and it is a fine start to the day with blue skies and sunshine with a mild day expected with cloudier conditions later in the day. There is a chance of some light snow (or rain) tomorrow morning.
It's getting rather quiet round these parts now and that will only continue in these last few weeks of the season. As I think I mentioned before, it makes for a distinctively different feeling compared with the rush and bata-bata of peak season Niseko.
Niseko Village and Niseko HANAZONO plan to be open until the end of Sunday, so just a few days left now. Niseko Annupuri and Niseko Grand Hirafu are planning on continuing on until Monday 6th May.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Thursday 4th April 2019, 8:23am
Good morning from Nozawa.
Some more snow yesterday including 22cm being reported by the resort from the top Yamabiko area. Just a little down below and no more overnight.
Today sunshine is due along with blue skies though there has been a fair bit of cloud around early on. It should be a really great morning out there. Early morning is recommended as we are clicking back into 'spring' with quickly rising temperatures, and more so tomorrow.
We might not be over with the snow just yet though with a chance of more early next week. (!)

Great day yesterday and such a 'massive bonus' feeling with that fresh snow. Bit windy.
This morning it feels like we are heading back into spring weather. Blue skies with a bank of cloud around higher mountain areas. It is likely going to be a fine day with lots of sunshine and much warmer conditions - temps down in the village are due to rise to 10C and perhaps even slightly higher this afternoon. And warmer than that tomorrow too.
It should be a great day. Watch out for wind possibly affecting some upper lifts though.
I am keeping an eye on resort operations each morning and adjusting info below to try and keep it as correct and up to date as possible.

Aizu Bandai Now!
Thursday 4th April 2019, 9:11am
Good morning from a (still!) snowy Urabandai.
It is snowing rather heavily this morning. The forecast told us to expect more spring like conditions but it is still mid winter weather. This snow started falling in the early morning and 14m of new snow on the base area of Grandeco. All of the roads in the village have turned white again and the snowplough trucks are working hard this morning.
It will be cloudy in the afternoon and sunshine might appear by the evening.
Tomorrow will be sunny in the daytime but some rain forecast in the night.
I am sure that it will be a good day for skiing today and tomorrow due to this snowfall.
The official snow depth at Grandeco is 260cm, Nekoma 177cm this morning. Nekoma staff told me the snowfall over the past 24hours was 24cm.
The snowfall data of Aizu Bandai Now is measured at Grandeco which is 17cm this morning.
Whatever, a lot of snow here!
The photos for today are all from Nekoma.
Nekoma - lift 5/5, course 8/11 open (open until there is enough snow) Grandeco - lift 4/5 include one gondola, course 8/11 open (open until there is enough snow) Minowa - lift 2/3, course 7/11 open (open until April 7th)

It is sunny; spring has returned.
It's also bright out there, with blue skies and that sun bouncing off the now perfectly white snow. Pretty nice day to get out and do something in the hills!
I thought this might have been our last cycle of snow, but our trusty SnowJapan weather forecast is showing that the freezing level is likely to go down around Monday, and that we might in fact get some more snow that day all the way down to base, maybe heavy high up! Always something to surprise....
Big dump yesterday, 40cm on my car park as a welcome back from vacation but Tenjin is seriously on this morning and there's nobody here.
All time but warming up quickly.
After Sunday just Tenjindaira will remain open in Minakami.
Ski resort planned closing dates - subject to change depending on conditions:

Shiga Kogen Now!
Thursday 4th April 2019, 10:25am
Good morning from Shiga Kogen.
And now after that surprising blast of winter (and some additional cm since my report yesterday), we are going to be back to spring.
Sunshine and warming up is on the cards for the next few days.
The section of Route 292 connecting the Yokoteyama area of Shiga Kogen with Gunma Prefecture plans to re-open from 10am on Friday 19th April. They are busy working on cutting out the road from the snow now. Always fun to see those snow walls. I wonder how big they will be this season.
