Sunny with cloud
It looks nice out there today, the sun is out and there's not much in the way of wind. Although the sun is out the sky isn't exactly blue as it's layered with cloud giving an overall grey-blue vista to the mountain skies. It's quite warm here also at around 4C above zero. Read more ...

After a fairly mild day yesterday, early this morning was a fairly similar story. It is quite cloudy this morning and about 8 degrees with the forecast for a high of around 13 degrees early this afternoon. So very mild. Only a slight breeze so resort that remain open will be business as usual.
There's a chance of a spot of rain later on this evening and maybe early tomorrow morning as well but other than that it looks like tomorrow should be similar to today.
Nighta tonight is open at the following resort in Yuzawa: Naeba
Other resorts in Yuzawa are now closed for the season.
Centleisure Maiko, Ishiuchi Maruyama and Joetsu Kokusai in neighbouring Minamiuonuma are open until tomorrow (Sunday 5th April). Read more ...
Shiga Kogen Now!
Saturday 4th April 2009, 10:02am
This morning is fine and sunny and another decent day to be out there - cloud, fine, mild, just a slight wind. Most areas of Shiga Kogen are reporting a temperature of around +3 degrees this morning (Yokoteyama reporting -6?!) so as you can see it is generally mild out there.
It was a cloudy but generally fine start to the day in Myoko. It is warming up though and will be breaking through the double figures this afternoon with just a slight breeze.
Tomorrow is the last day of the season for a number of resorts in the region, meaning that from Monday the only resorts remaining open will be Akakan and Seki Onsen - both of which hope to go through into May, snow permitting. See details below.
There's a chance of rain later on but it looks like we should be seeing some fine weather in the coming week with mild temperatures and little chance of any further snow.
Anyway, here is the latest on what is still open:
Akakura Onsen, Myoko Ski Park, Madarao Kogen and Tangram Ski Circus are all open until tomorrow (Sunday 5th April).
Akakan plans to be open, snow permitting, until 6th May. (Reduced price lift tickets are available until then, adults 2500 yen).
Seki Onsen is planning to be open until 10th May.
The Ikenotaira, Suginoyama and Myoko Pine Valley resorts are already closed for the season.
A overcast morning in Nozawa today. There is a comfortable 15km/h South-westerly blowing and the visibility is great. It will be another great spring ski day. The temperature at the summit is currently 3C. Base depths are slightly reduced to 240cm at Yamabiko and 160cm at Uenotaira.
Light snow is forecast for this afternoon and tonight but tomorrow should be mostly fine.
The Nagasaka gondola, Yamabiko 1 and 2 quads, the Uenotaira quad, the Yunomine quad and the Mizunashi triple lift are all operating today so there is quite a large skiable area open. It is still possible to ski to the bottom via Paradise, Utopia B, challenge and the rinkan course. Shuttle busses operate every 20 minutes from the bottom of these courses back to the Nagasaka car park. Read more ...

There were fine blue skies in Hakuba yesterday, but today after a bright start it has been mostly cloudy with rain spoiling the fun as well.
There were some fairly long queues for the gondola early this morning and a fair few people out on the hills today - a few minutes wait needed to get on the lifts at times. Aiko Uemura made an appearance today on Happo-one (for her "Aiko Uemura Junior Mogul Camp") which caused a bit of a fuss and lots of people gathering to get a glimpse!
It is mild at the moment with a temperature of 8 degrees presently. Unfortunately it's also raining but hopefully that will clear up sooner rather than later and fine weather is forecast for Sunday and Monday.
