...and it's not quite over yet, as they say! A dusting of snow this morning at base areas though it is more like sleet right now as I write this. Cloud, some blue sky
Lots of cloud but some blue sky over the main Kagura area early on this Friday holiday morning - and more importantly another thin layer of snow.... Kagura saying 3cm. Those who get up early will be rewarded!

Have a good Golden Week.

And another couple of cm up on Yamabiko overnight to report and continued cold temperatures up there. And down here too - it's not even 5 degrees this morning yet, though it should end up warmer than it has been so far this week today rising into double digit temperatures at base.
There's still some cloud hanging over the top areas of the mountain but clearer patches and it feels like it will continue to clear this morning.
For the rest of Golden Week we should get to see more sun. Have a good one!

Lots of cloud again this morning on the mountains, though some blue sky on the other side and it's keeping bright. In the village anyway, the Happo webcam is showing thick cloud and poor visibility at the moment - only the highest points it would seem. Sun is on the forecast as well so perhaps the clouds will move on this morning.
No new snow to report this morning but it was again keeping cold overnight and just over freezing. Today a high of about 12 degrees is forecast in the village. From now until Monday we are told to expect generally cloud and sunny conditions.
Expect lots of people out today and the next few as the lifts do their thing for the last time this season.

Kagura resort are telling us about another 3cm of so of fresh snow on their upper slopes this morning.
It will of course be busy today as we are now into the second chunk of the Golden Week holidays.

A little bit of sun - finally - as we enter the Golden Week weekend.
Still some clouds/fog over the ski areas, but the mists did open up long enough this morning to show that there is fresh snow and white-covered trees from the top of the ski areas up. It's been pretty cold over the last few days, too, so the remaining snowpack is hanging on just fine.
Still pretty cold today, although hopefully we'll see more sun, and a little more springlike conditions.
It is spring, after all (even if the snow did fall in May!).
Both Akakan's upper runs and Seki are open.
Akakura Kanko: Open until 6th May - Sky Cable gondola and No. 3 lift, Hotel No. 5 lift). Seki Onsen: Plan to be open until 6th May. Read more ...
