Snow and weather reports posted on Sunday 26th May 2019
Tuesday 3rd May 2011, 9:26am
It is not looking too bad out there today. It is currently high cloud but this is expected to lift and the sun should come through later in the day. Last night there was some very light snow around the base area. Sledding is available free of charge on the upper mountain - sleds are provided.
It is a cloudy, hazy start to the day here in Yuzawa. Much less wind than yesterday as well. It's quite bright though and sun is on the forecast for today, tomorrow and Thursday so for those out for this second part of the Golden Week holidays it should be decent weather all the way through. There's a chance of some rainfall tonight but that will hopefully be only happening when the lifts aren't moving and clear up by the morning.
Have a good second half of the holidays!
Kandatsu Kogen plans to be open until 8th May. Kagura plans to be open until 29th May.
Official snow depth @ Tuesday 3rd May 2011 AM
Planned lift operations at Kagura (29th April - 8th May):
It's a bit of a hazy kind of morning here in Nozawa. Clearer and good visibility up top but a grey kind of bright, if that makes sense! The forecast is for sun though so perhaps that will happen and also sun for tomorrow and Thursday. Whatever, decent weather conditions for the rest of Golden Week.
Snow has pretty much gone from lower levels of the resort near the village now... once that starts going it really does dry up quickly! Still really good snow cover up top though, officially 185cm at Yamabiko. Seems much less than that in places to me, but all the same it's not patchy.
Here's the list of open courses open at the moment:
Yamabiko A Yamabiko B Yamabiko C Yamabiko D Yamabiko E Kokenashi A Kokenashi B Uenotaira Paradise Yunomine A Yunomine B Bunabayashi Paradise connecting course Uenotaira Snow Park

Shiga Kogen Now!
Tuesday 3rd May 2011, 10:06am
The sun is out this morning and we have some hazy-ish grey-blue skies along with a temperature of around 10 degrees at the moment in the central area of Shiga Kogen. There's a chance of some light rain later on this afternoon/evening but if that happens it should hopefully clear up quickly and then clear conditions are once again likely tomorrow and Thursday.

Cloudy and hazy
No official snow depth and temperature report today, but people are out there skiing on an overcast but not too bad day. The report off the hill, too, is that the snow firmed up well in the afternoon after being pretty soft and slushy in the morning.
The national weather report shows some kosa, the sands from the Gobi desert, coming across Japan, and it kind of looks like it, with a gray haze across the area.
Open Ski Resorts
Akakan (Akakura Kanko): Sky Cable gondola, Hotel No. 3.
