Snow and weather reports posted on Wednesday 21st April 2021

It's officially the last day of the season up at Kagura and that means the last day of the what has been a long, long season here in Yuzawa.
It is a cloudy start to the day but brighter than it has been with the shining through at the moment. Temperatures remain unseasonably cool though and it won't get much warmer than 15 degrees today, and of course not as high as that up on the mountain.
This coming week clearer, sunnier weather is on the forecast along with slightly warmer conditions - though it doesn't look like the hot weather will be with us just yet.
We plan to post occasional weather updates to this Yuzawa Now page during the summer months and of course will be back with daily reports in the run up to next snow season.... look out for the first snowfall higher up on the mountains sometime in October.
Thanks for reading the reports throughout winter and we hope that you have a good summer. Read more ...

The snow season is now officially over at Kagura - and therefore all of the resorts in the region. The lifts closed for the last time just a short while ago. But it has been a long season with really good snow cover right up until the end.
All of the lifts are now closed. The Dragondola (connecting Naeba with Tashiro) plans to be open for the peak 'autumn colours' season from Saturday 9th October until Sunday 7th November. Other than that, Naeba is usually fairly quiet, though there are always the views and hiking to do in the area, and more going on down in the main town area of Yuzawa. The weather forecasts will continue to be updated right through the year on each of the main resort pages on the site, links to the right of this page.
Kagura has announced that they hope to be able to open for next season on 20th November, while Naeba is hoping for an early December opening.... obviously depending on snow!
Here's hoping for a bumper 2010/2011 season.
Thanks for reading and have a good summer. These Naeba Now reports will resume in autumn as the build up to the 10/11 season begins. Read more ...
Shiga Kogen Now!
Sunday 30th May 2010, 17:30pm
That's it then, the season is now officially over in all regions of Shiga Kogen.
Yokoteyama managed to be open for 176 days this season, two less than last year but the reliability of snow was generally better this season. There have been ups and downs but I would say it has been another generally really good season in Shiga Kogen. Certainly lots of quality powder snow to be found, early January being a highlight.
So the snow season is over, but the "Green Season" has already started - Shiga Kogen is a popular region in Shiga Kogen throughout the year, and apart from the fantastic views and chances to enjoy the outdoors, it's also a great place to escape the heat of the towns in summer.
Anyway, thanks for reading the reports. We'll be back with reports after the summer in the run up to the 10/11 season.
