Weather conditions: Light snow, cloud > fine
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Some more snow since yesterday this morning on the ground - maybe 10cm or so. There are still a fair few clouds around now, and things look like they might be clearing up and the sun should be making an appearance. Temperatures might rise to around +4 degrees later on this afternoon. Not much of a wind today so everywhere should be open. Conditions should be good.   Read more ...

Naeba Now!

Sunday 2nd March 2008, 9:23am
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Shenanigans at Naeba yesterday... whilst riding below Dai Ni Gondola (Gondola No 2) I noticed that it had stopped. I then became aware that the queue was larger than normal but still joined the queue.... then the Gondola proceeded to start and stop for the next 10 minutes - so I thought better than getting on the thing. Time for lunch me thinks, half an hour later the gondola is still not moving... over a 100 stuck customers some for more than an hour.

A touch of snow on the ground this morning. There's a Grey white sky and a flutter of snow in the air. A slight breeze is guiding the snow flakes from a westerly direction whilst the top half of the Naeba mountain is not visible from the village due to low cloud. The Dai-Ichi-Gondola (not the blue one) is not running today - maybe due to the risk of avalanche. This is the only reason I can think why as there are no strong winds.

Weather conditions: Overcast, snow.
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
The snow depth is on the rise again after a much needed coating of fresh powder. The temperature dropped yesteday afternoon just as another snow storm passed over us and there were some moments when it actually felt like winter again. Today looks like it will a good day for riding right across the mountain with at least 35cm of fresh snow up high.    Read more ...

Myoko Now!

Sunday 2nd March 2008, 10:47am
Weather conditions: sunny
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Powdery snow fell well during the Togakushi winter fireworks festival last night, and sunny skies are sweeping the clouds away throughout the area today. Much more snowfall than forecasted by most of the media, so today there's more than just a nice coating on the slopes. When 3 meters was a great surprise at Seki Onsen, 4 meters came. 5 meters became something ludicrous. Now today, Seki's got 630cm. It's becoming scary.

The pick of the day is Akakura Kanko: no big crowds but great quality off-piste runs. For the more advanced, Seki Onsen awaits, all 6.3 meters of it.

Your Myoko area levels for today:
415cm (Akakura Kanko Resort);
400cm (Akakura Onsen);
280cm (Ikenotaira);
475cm on top, 250cm on the bottom (Suginohara);
445cm (Kyukamura);
230cm (Pine Valley);
630cm (Seki Onsen)!!!;
255cm (Madarao Tangram Ski Circus);
275cm (Madarao Sympathique);
280cm (Madarao Kogen);
390cm (Myoko Ski Park);
210cm (Togakushi);
260cm (Kurohime);
190cm (Iizuna);
175cm (Iizuna Kogen)

Hakuba Now!

Sunday 2nd March 2008, 10:50am
Weather conditions: Sunshine with some cloud
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
This morning is beautiful, blue skies after a big snowfall yesterday. The only other thing to ask for is an empty slope, but unfortunately today that is not going to happen. Be careful on the busy slopes today, it can get hectic. Enjoy the sunshine, there are light winds which shouldn't effect any lifts and clouds should start to roll in a bit later this afternoon. More snow is due to fall tonight.

Temperatures today will be warm, so make sure you have your sunscreen.

Backcountry advisory update:

Huge amounts of heavy wet snow overnight has pushed up the avalanche danger scale. With the new snow sitting on the sun crust from yesterday and ice layer from the high winds it is quite likely on steep sun-facing aspects for natural triggered avalanches to occur and even on moderate slope angles human triggered slides are probable. Travel in the back country is NOT advised today.

Furano Now!

Sunday 2nd March 2008, 11:50am
Weather conditions: heavy snow, no wind, big fat snowflakes
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Spoke to soon for spring waxing. Yesterday it dumped really heavy for about 3 hours, and then continued snowing until around 11pm. We have had at least 25cm of snow in the last 24 hours, and conditions on the mountain are excellent. It is currently snowing now, again those really big flakes, which is such a beautiful sight and is expected through to around 6pm.

Temperatures are sitting a bit warmish, with a lot of water around on the roads in town. Being a Sunday the mountain will be a little busy. The 11am Kuma and 2pm Kuma should be the best runs on the mountain today.

It will be magic out there today, so get out and make some turns.

Weather conditions: Fine
New snowfall: --

Blue skies for Nozzie today. Its warm in town but the trees on the top of the mountain have a dusting of snow on them. It did snow on and off for a lot of the day yesterday, but it was very wet and almost looked like rain there for a while in the evening. Looks like we are well into spring skiing here.

Light to moderate snow is forecast for all of next week.

Weather conditions: Clear and sunny

Noon snow report

A warm and sunny blue sky day in Minakami today with only a very light breeze. There is 30cm of fresh snow at the valley level and up to 50cm above 1300m. A great day to be up the mountains!

Monday and Tuesday look like overcast days with the snow rolling in once again from Wednesday, continuing through to Thursday evening. Next weekend looks like a sunny one, but with the weather patterns of late it could well turn into more snow!

Backcountry Advisory
High winds and new snow yesterday on top of the warmer snow layer from Friday will likely cause sluffs in steeper terrain.

Alpine: Considerable
Tree Line: Moderate

Nighta is planned at the following resort areas of Shiga Kogen today:

- Ichinose Family
- Ichinose Diamond
- Yakebitaiyama
