Clear and sunny
The sun is out this morning and after a mild overnight we expect the day to warm up to around 14 degrees later on this afternoon.
There are some fantastic 'sea of cloud' views looking north over Minamiuonuma city on the Ishiuchi Maruyama webcam early on (see below), though those clouds will probably very quickly disappear leaving everywhere in the region with clear skies.
Tomorrow might start off sunny but rain is expected before the end of the day and over the weekend.
Official snow depths:
Too early for updates this morning - all data as of yesterday....
Planned closing dates for resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma region Information as currently available and of course subject to change depending on conditions. Resorts not mentioned below are now closed.
I am lucky this morning because it's an easy report. I need to get myself over to Sapporo this morning and so the report is earlier than usual. But the weather is co-operating in that respect with the sun out and blue skies all around.
It's a lovely morning and I expect the resorts will all be open as planned.
It has been cold overnight but it's going to warm up once again during the day today. Tomorrow still forecast to be cooler in the daytime, but rain likely falling (with a possibility of a bit of snow higher up on the mountain... don't get too excited though.)
Clearer skies are likely again over the coming weekend.
Resort specific news as of 8:30am - subject to change during the day

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Thursday 2nd April 2015, 7:13am
Low lying cloud but clear over mountain
The clouds have cleared (well apart from some cool looking low lying cloud in the main valley), the sun is out and we are enjoying blue skies above Nozawa Onsen this morning.
Not hearing of any new cm up top though it's a bit early yet and I do need to post this before I rush off to Nagano city for the day today.
For today though it's going to be clear and sunny and warm which is nicer than what we got yesterday of course.
Rainfall unfortunately seems to still be a main feature of the forecasts for the weekend, starting later on in the day tomorrow. Come early next week perhaps a dip in temperatures, but let's deal with that when we get closer...

After the less than nice weather yesterday, today we are back to being glorious, with clear blue skies and not breath of wind in the air. The temperature is currently just over freezing and will warm up again.
Current forecasts tell us that we might get rained on over the weekend, especially around Sunday.
Here's the plan regarding the rest of the season. As Naeba is open daily until this coming Sunday and then only on the weekends through Golden Week, the Naeba Now report daily updates will finish for the season this weekend with a few possible updates by the end of the season.
Kagura of course remains open until the end of May. The Yuzawa Now report page will be updated on a daily basis through until Golden Week and after that a few more updates through until the last lift stops moving at Kagura. So from next week any Naeba or Kagura related news will be posted on the Yuzawa Now report page.
Official snow depths:
Naeba: 240cm Kagura: 350cm
0cm Naeba 0cm Kagura
Planned end of season
Naeba: Naeba will be open daily until April 5th and then Saturdays and holidays only until May 6th (not including April 29th)
Kagura: The main Kagura area, via Mitsumata Ropeaway, will be open daily until May 31st The Tashiro area will be open until May 6th.
This Naeba Now report started updating for the 2014/2015 season on 31st January 2015. It is a little cooler this morning and has frozen overnight, so the morning will provide some very nice snow conditions as the the snowpack warms up. The snow will warm up fairly quickly though as there is not a cloud in sight to sheild the sun and the skies are a deep crystal blue. There will be some light snow in the evening and tomorrow morning but it will be washed out by heavy rain that will come after the snow. Read more ...

More sun and sunshine today.
The morning started off sunny but with some dramatic looking low cloud over village. Those had cleared up fairly soon after the lifts started up for the day leaving us with mostly clear and sunny conditions and another warm day with temperatures in low double digits.
Still expecting rain over the weekend with Sunday looking like it will probably be the wetter of the two - chance that we might be luckier on that front on Saturday...
Official snow depth numbers and operations at time of writing on Thursday 2nd April 2015. Subject to change during the day:
Hakuba Goryu: Hakuba Goryu plans to be at least part open until Wednesday 6th May. The lower Iimori area is now closed for the season.
- Alps Daira - 280cm - Toomi - 105cm
Hakuba 47: Hakuba 47 plans to be at least part open until Wednesday 6th May. Currently all open (top to bottom) apart from a small lower part of R7.
- Upper - 270cm - Lower - 110cm
Happo-one: Happo-one plans to be at least part open until Sunday 10th May.
Snow! Sit back down... just a dusting! But much better than the rain that we got during the day yesterday. That turned into snow and left us with that dusting. The sun is out now and it has been a fine and clear and sunny day, warming up again.
The mild conditions will continue over the next few days and unfortunately there's a high probability of rain over the weekend though Saturday morning we may just escape it.
After that, colder weather is once again forecast early next week and even the chance of snowfall. That would be just the ticket!
The Shiga Kogen Now reports will continue being updated until the end of the season - we will try to post a few new reports each week.
