Mostly cloudy, but some blue sky places and even a bit of sun
This is a little bit more like it, sort of. Not a whole lot of fresh snow down at base so far - ever so slightly over 1cm - but it is definitely colder with the temperature back down below zero (where it jolly well should be) and we are expecting snow to be falling every day now through until Sunday. Just how much, I will let you know every morning.
For the moment it is mostly cloudy with some very light snow falling in places but some sun actually shining through in others. Pretty. Let's snowing please.
Tomorrow if course is the last day of November. I plan to post my 'season so far' November report on Monday.
Kagura are reporting light snowfall overnight with a thin layer on the course area that is open and it looks rather foggy up there as of 8am too. Hoping for a bit more snow tonight, though it doesn't look like we can expect anything significant for a while yet (as well as warmer conditions again late weekend/early in the week).
Roads are wet around town this morning but rain is holding off for now and we might even see clearing clouds as the day goes on.
Mitsumata Ropeway: 8:00am until 5:00pm (last going up at 2:30pm) Mitsumata Number 1 high speed lift: 8:00am until 3:00pm Mitsumata Number 2 romance lift: 9:00am until 4:30am Kagura Gondola: 8:15am until 4:00pm
Kagura main course - 600m in length, 30-50m wide
The Mitsumata area is open just as a connecting area. The Tashiro area is closed. It plans to open from 8th December. The open course is not recommended for beginners. Return to Mitsumata Ropeway via Mitsumata lift or snow mats.
Planned opening dates - subject to change of course depending on weather/snow conditions.
The snow flurries continued through the day yesterday with no accumulation on the ground until early evening. This morning the ground in the ski village is well and truly frozen, and there is 3cm of fresh light snow on the ground. The resort is reporting 20cm at the top of Furano Ropeway. There is a light breeze and although mainly cloudy, a bit of sun is making its way through. Overall quite a pleasant day and worth popping up for a ski on that fresh snow.
Furano Zone is open with Furano Ropeway for uplifting/down lifting only. The skiable trails are Shirakaba and upper Sailer, with the Downhill #2 chair servicing those trails. Read more ...
