Not much to report this morning other than continued clear blue skies and sunshine and warm conditions.

There may be some cloud moving in later on but for now, a fine morning.

Various events going on at the resort as well today.

Sounds like a good way to spend a day.

Yuzawa Now!

Good morning from Yuzawa.

Yesterday the early clouds cleared leaving us with a beautiful day. Not too hot, just about right.

Today the sun is out from early on and it's destined to get hotter - it's forecast to rise above 25C for town this afternoon.

And more clear and sunny skies tomorrow too.

Planned resort operations - subject to change

Kagura

- Tashiro Ropeway plans to be at least part open until Sunday 6th May
- Mitsumata Ropeway and the main Kagura area plan to be at least part open until Sunday 27th May
- The Gezan downhill course to Mitsumata base is closed - take the Ropeway back to base
- The Gondola East Course at Tashiro is also closed
- The Mitsumata Family Course and Gondola Line are now only available as 'connecting courses'...
- ...use them to get back to the top Mitsumata Ropeway to get back to the car park
- You can also ride the Mitsumata Number 1 lift back down to the Ropeway

- Kagura area - 160cm
- Mitsumata area - 50cm
- Tashiro area - 90cm

- Naeba has re-opened for the weekend
- It will be open today and tomorrow
- Monday (30th) will be the last day of the season
- Just the upper Takenokodaira course area of Naeba is skiable

Golden Week is a period from the end of April through early May containing a number of national holidays. Those holidays are as follows:

- 29th April is 'Showa Day' (Showa-no-hi), the birthday of former Emperor Showa
- 3rd May is 'Constitution Day' (Kenpo-kinenbi)
- 4th May is 'Greenery Day' (Midori-no-hi)
- 5th May is 'Children's Day' (Kodomo-no-hi)

What this means for 2018 is that most people will enjoy two long weekends - 3 days this upcoming weekend and then 4 days off the weekend after:

Long Weekend #1: Saturday 28th April - Monday 30th April
Long Weekend #2: Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th May

Some people may even be lucky enough to have/take Tuesday and Thursday off next week, giving them a long 9 day holiday!

The weather is often really good over the Golden Week period and of course the end of Golden Week is also the end of ski lift operations at Tashiro, but Kagura plans to remain open beyond that date through until later in May.   Read more ...

Lovely day yesterday and more of the same today --- with added hotter temps reaching mid-20s. Going to be borderline hot for some of us, I suspect!

Fine weather conditions are also forecast for tomorrow (perhaps not quite as warm as today).

The resort is now reporting 60cm snow depth at Yamabiko. Let's see how that changes each day over the next week...

Good morning from Hakuba.

Clear blue skies this morning with a little hazy feel looking in some directions.

It's going to be warm - hot? ...getting a little higher than 25C in the village - and more fine weather is due tomorrow too.

So it is turning out to be a very fine 'first part of Golden Week'. Wonder how that second part will be as we approach next weekend.

Latest news!

It was getting more and more likely, but Tenjin isn't going to be able to remain open for all of Golden Week - for skiing and boarding anyway.

Tomorrow - Monday 30th April - is going to be the last day of the season for the ski-jo, with just the short Taira lift operating for skiers and boarders.

The Toge lift is operating for sightseeing.

So, just over one more day left in the official ski season. And it's a warm and sunny weekend too.
