It is a fine and sunny morning here in Yuzawa. Once again it got quite chilly overnight, but will warm up to maybe around 20 degrees in the early afternoon. There is just a slight wind.
The resorts that should be open now are open as planned. The weekly forecast says sun and warm weather for the coming week so it looks like we are in for great weather over the Golden Week period.
Today is a national holiday in Japan and so you might expect places to be busier than usual for a weekday. Read more ...

Nice and sunny and warm today in Hakuba. Clear blue skies and light wind will make for very good spring skiing conditions on the hills today. Wax up your board(s) and make the most of the final last few days of the season.
Temperatures are rising and water is freely flowing in the snow pack thus slab avalanches to the ground are a definite possibility. Watch out for those precariously hanging slopes of snow on steep convexing terrain and under glide cracks. Move quickly through areas in terrain trap valley bottoms. There will be general loose wet slides on all slopes as surface snow temperatures rise and due to the snow pack being isothermal, ( all right at 0 degrees from ground to surface) Slides can be very big at this time of year so play smart.
It is a fairly bright but overcast morning here in Furano, with a chance of rain later on in the day. It hasn't been quite as warm these last few, with a high of 15 forecast for today. The forecast for Golden Week is generally fine, sunny weather.
Today is the last day of the 2007/8 ski & snowboard season at Furano with the last of the runs having their last day. After today, the 'green season' will be the reason why people visit Furano - and there's plenty to do in these beautiful surroundings.
We hope you enjoyed these daily reports from Furano this season. Look out for updates on here in the run up to the 2008/9 season.
