An early report this morning and right now it's looking like the forecast will be right.... going to be a fine day with a high temperature of around 5 degrees. No strong winds on the forecast and so resorts should be open as normal. Similar conditions are also forecast for tomorrow.
Expect spring like conditions out there, though the better snow will be found at higher elevations.
Nighta tonight is at the following resorts in Yuzawa: Naeba Yuzawa Nakazato Yuzawa Park NASPA Ski Garden Iwappara
In Minamiuonuma just to the north, nighta at: Ishiuchi Maruyama Centleisure Maiko Joetsu Kokusai
A bright morning sun has woken the village early today, but with the snow in good condition to boot. Definitely hit the slopes early today, as the sun will lap up the powder conditions rapidly, causing slush in the afternoon.
A blue bird sky in Minakami this morning with no wind to speak of. A great day to hit the slopes and enjoy the mountains! Looks like it will remain clear and sunny for most of the day with some cloud expected to move in late afternoon.
Tomorrow looks like an overcast day with little wind expected so on piste conditions should be good. Snow expected later in the week on Tuesday and Wednesday. The first snow of March, lets hop not the last! Read more ...
Nozawa Onsen Now!

Fine and sunny
It is a fine and sunny morning here in Nozawa today. It is currently -8 degrees up on Yamabiko and -2 in the village, with a northerly breeze of around 10 km/h. Clouds are expected to move in this afternoon and bring snow showers through into the evening and throughout tomorrow, followed by light snow tomorrow night totaling 13cm by Monday night. Temperatures should be well below freezing meaning good conditions across the whole mountain.
Yesterday saw light snow falling throughout the afternoon but the resort only received a centimeter or two in total. Several areas were still very hard packed and icy up on the higher slopes, and parts of some courses including skyline are beginning to show a lack of cover lower down.
Let's hope tonight brings some fresh snow to repair the damage done to the snow cover.
All lifts will operate except Mizunashi, Yunomine, Challenge and Utopia.
All courses are open except Kurokura and Hachiman.
A little bit of snow yesterday but no accumulation in the valley.
It is sunny this morning with some cloud hanging around the tops of the mountain that should clear as it warms today. We had a chilly night and temps were -4 at 6 this morning with a predicted high of around 5 today. With no real wind and nice weather today should see a mix of some nice groomers getting beat through the day and snow softening around midday.
Being the weekend there are tons of people out already... today will be a busy one as being the last weekend in February and everyone wants to make the most of the snow while it lasts.
Forecast for a cloudy morning tomorrow clearing by the afternoon and we have snow forecast for next week.
Beautiful blue skies this morning in Naeba. The sun is out and so things look good for a nice day out on the slopes. There's a gentle breeze around the mountain whilst the temperature sits around below zero. Looks for a quieter weekend than usual as the traffic on the road this morning was none too busy.
All gondolas are operational whilst the usual areas are open at Kagura, Mitsumata and Tashiro. Read more ...

Yesterday did get slightly above freezing on the lower mountain and the snow has packed down considerably. Last night a band of precipitation moved rapidly through the region adding up to 10cm fresh snow with 2 hours. Since then though it has fined up to a partly cloudy day with only the occasional snow shower. A bit heavier snowfall is expected to come through later tonight. A little snow will continue through to Tues and then it is expected to mostly fine up and get relatively mild as a high pressure system moves to our east and directs a southerly airstream over us. So far this Feb Kutchan has received over 2.3m of snow making it the biggest Feb since the 04/05 season which had over 3.3m. So far for the whole season Kutchan has had up around 8.5m, 04/05 at the time had over 11.5m (and ended up with over 14m by April). So it's not been an epic season in terms of total snowfall but with snowdepths up over 4m around the higher parts of the mountain it's still not too bad.
It's a fine day here in Shiga Kogen and a beautiful day with some bright blue skies and it is a great day to be on the mountains. No new snow to report and after a fairly cold start to this last day of Febraury things have warmed up. Part of the resort are quite rather today, it being the weekend and all. Expect more of the same tomorrow.
The following resort plans to be open for nighta tonight: Sun Valley Maruike Mammoth Ichinose Family Ichonose Diamond Yakebitaiyama Kumanoyu
