Last stretch of the season!

And we have started Golden Week with lovely blue skies and sunshine. Not a cloud to be seen.

It's a bit windy though so need to keep an eye on that.

But we should be enjoying a lot of sunshine over this weekend.

Good morning and welcome to Golden Week. Well the first bit of it anyway (more on that later).

The sun is out and there is blue sky and some cloud up there. Lots of sun is forecast over the next few days along with warming up temps too, especially tomorrow when temps might rise to mid-20s. More like low 20s for today.

The Kagura resort is open and is accessed via both the Mitsumata and Tashiro Ropeways. The Mitsumata course areas though are now only to be used as a 'connecting course' back down to the Mitsumata Ropeway so for main skiing and boarding go over to Kagura or the Tashiro areas.

Naeba re-opens today and will be open until Monday, which will be the last day of the season. They have just the upper Takenokodaira course available.

Niseko Now!

Saturday 28th April 2018, 8:40am
Weather conditions: Fine, cloud, sun
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: --
Good morning from Niseko.

Golden Week... su-taa-to!

This morning it's kind of fine but cloudy and kind of hazy looking in some directions. It should be warming up to around mid teens today and a bit warmer still tomorrow with sunshine on the forecast for at least this first part of Golden Week.

Looks like there may be some blowy winds higher up this morning.

---

They were kind of coy about it but Niseko Village have re-opened for Golden Week. Surprise! Was it a secret or something? (And... why?). Really odd as they usually say they will be opening specially for Golden Week way in advance - and they didn't do that this year. But anyway, that aside, Niseko Village have their Gondola and top Wonderland lift operating this morning with the top Wonderland course open for skiing and boarding. They will be open in that way apparently every day until 6th May.

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Saturday 28th April 2018, 8:42am
Weather conditions: Fine, some cloud
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: --
Morning from Nozawa on this first day of the Golden Week holiday period - and the last part of the last part of the season!

Just the upper areas of Nozawa now open - there's still decent snow cover still up on Yamabiko; less so on Paradise (as you can see on the second image below). They have restrictions going on up there, some kind of pole practice but it's unclear if it is totally unavailable to the public or just part unavailable. Personally I'd just stick to Yamabiko anyway where there's more snow.

Fine weather forecast for the long weekend with temperatures rising to mid 20's tomorrow.

Saturday 28th April 2018

Official snow depth numbers:

- Yamabiko (1407m): 80cm

Naeba Now!

Saturday 28th April 2018, 9:07am
Weather conditions: Sunny
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: --
Good morning from Naeba.

It's the first part of the Golden Week holiday period... and the last weekend of operations here in Naeba.

Yes, just three more days left including today with the resort closing at the end of operations on Monday (30th).

And it looks like it is just the Takenokodaira course open for the long weekend, with the Number 2 Gondola taking you up there (and bringing you back down too).

So there's very limited terrain remaining open, but if you want some last sliding fun here in Naeba in fine spring weather, it's your last chance!

---

Planned operating dates:

- Saturday 28th April (today)
- Sunday 29th April
- Monday 30th April << last day of the season!

Planned operating ski lifts:

- Prince Number 2 Gondola
- Takenokodaira romance lift

Open courses:

- Takenokodaira

---

NOTE: The Dragondola is moving from today for the Golden Week holidays - but it is open for sightseeing, not for skiing and snowboarding!   Read more ...
