Weather conditions: Snowing heavily
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
The strong winds yesterday restricted lift operation for most of the day. They appear to have died down today so it will be a great time to get out and enjoy fresh tracks in all the powder. In the lee slopes there should be some very deep turns. Snow is continuing to fall this morning and is set to continue for the next couple of days.    Read more ...

Weather conditions: Overcast and snowing 3 cm / hour\r\n

After a lol in the snow fall overnight we are right back were we started - it's snowing again.

With strong winds up top yesterday and large amounts of fresh snow there is a high instability in the off piste areas. Most of the backcountry tours in town are canceling tours because of this danger. Travel in the backcountry or open and exposed areas is not advised. Cornices are big and unstable and windward ridges are scoured of snow from the high winds over the last couple of days. This wind will have also created wind slab in the bowls and week spots around rocks that have been scoured of snow.

Natural and human triggered avalanches likely. Travel in Avalanche terrain is not recommended.

Why not ride all the great snow on the resorts? We have the most snow pre-New Years in over 80 years according to the local Oji-san. The runs keep getting groomed and the snow keeps falling on them. Today we have another 15 cm over top of the groom and it is over knee high on the edges of the runs and so light that plumes and face shots are plentiful. The cloud level is at 1650 so the visibility down low is good and poor in the clouds. Wind is moderate from the North.

It is some of the best skiing everyone you talk to has had in their lives.   Read more ...

Weather conditions: gloomy and snowing
New snowfall: --

Snowing all through the night and it seems like this will continue through the rest of today. Not much wind but gloomy low clouds (maybe just this morning) and
only fair visibility so far with the promise of it clearing as the mercury rises. Plenty of snow to go around with few people on the mountain, meaning plenty of elbow room and fresh tracks with powder stashes all over the place.    Read more ...

Weather conditions: Snow
New snowfall: --

Heavy snow and windy conditions again yesterday and it is pretty much more of the same again this morning with the snow coming down and some very cold and gusty winds around. While the snow conditions are really good, visibility is very low and not that many people braving the slopes at the moment.

It looks like the weather is set to calm down over next weekend and the New Year period with some cloudy and sunny days forecast so it looks like that will be a great time to be out on the slopes.   Read more ...
