Furano Ropeway and the top chairlift in the Furano Zone are operating today from 9am-4pm. There are excellent spring snow conditions over the mountain and the sun and blue sky are out in full force. The air temperature feels quite cold at the moment but it is expected to heat up during the day. Weatherwise this is one of the best days we have had in some time...don't waste it, get up there. It's a cloudy but very windy morning in Yuzawa. So much that the building seems to be swaying at times and the trees are getting a real good workout!
As you might expect, this wind is affecting the resorts this morning.... Gala Yuzawa is closed and so is Tashiro and the main area at Kagura. In fact, the only area that is open this morning in Yuzawa is the Mitsumata area.
Official resort snow depths @ 27th April 10, AM: Kagura: 300cm Kagura - Tashiro: 230cm GALA Yuzawa: 130cm
Planned closing dates at resorts in Yuzawa:
Wednesday 5th May 2010: Gala Yuzawa Kagura (Tashiro Area)
It is cloudy this morning and very mild but more importantly, it is very windy. The strong winds are affecting the resort today and only the Mitsumata area of Kagura is open - so that means that basically all of Tashiro and the main area of Kagura are closed.
Rain is likely later on today and possibly also into tomorrow morning. Perhaps some snow at the top? Perhaps... will report tomorrow!
We will post Naeba Now weather update reports a few times a week until the end of the season at Kagura. The Yuzawa Now report will continue to be updated on a mostly daily basis - including any information on Kagura as well - so please keep an eye on that report as well for the most up-to-date information.
Official Snow Depths:
Kagura (Tashiro): 270cm
The Tashiro part of Kagura plans to be open until Wednesday 5th May.
The main Kagura area, via Mitsumata Ropeway, plans to be open through until Sunday 23rd May. Read more ...
