Snow and weather reports posted on Friday 8th November 2019

As expected, it's a rainy and wet morning here in Hakuba.
There was lots of activity in the village yesterday with repairs starting to be made to roads, people catching their breath, and in those areas of damage quickly trying to prepare for the forecast rain today. Prime Minister Abe made a visit to the village in the afternoon as well.
Ski resorts have been trying to get some publicity as well - the message that they need to get out there is that they have not been affected and the ski season is going ahead as planned. Perhaps one way that we can show some support is to get on down here and check Hakuba out. As if we needed encouragement.
Anyway, hopefully there might be some snow to report at least higher up on the mountains tomorrow - though it will remain rain here in the village, probably heavy at times.
It is currently around 7 degrees, so quite mild. It's not expected to warm up much during the day though.
Planned opening dates :
Hakuba 47 - late November Hakuba Goryu - late November Happo-one - late November Tsugaike Kogen - late November Kashimayari Sports Village - early December Hakuba Sanosaka - mid December Hakuba Norikura Onsen - mid December Hakuba Cortina - Saturday 13th December Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field - Friday 19th December Read more ...

Yesterday ended up not as clear and sunny as we were expecting. By noon a lot of cloud had moved in and it got noticeably colder, a strong wind as well at times.
It's around 6 degrees as of 8am this morning and raining, up at Kagura too, early on. (Chance of snowfall up there?)
The forecast is for quite a lot of rain today and tomorrow but it's not going to warm up much at all and the temperatures should stay in single digits.
Resorts currently open:
Kagura: A 1500m run at the main Kagura area is open, access via Mitsumata Ropeway. The Kagura Number 1 quad servicing the open course weekdays.
Planned opening dates for resorts in Yuzawa Town:
Saturday 6th December: Kagura Tashiro Iwappara
Saturday 13th December: Naeba
Friday 19th December: Yuzawa Nakazato Yuzawa Kogen Yuzawa Park
Good morning and it's a lovely morning here in Hirafu... though not for skiing and snowboarding unfortunately!
Lots of blue skies above us, just a few clouds.
The sun is out.
It was what we were expecting today of course, and perhaps similar conditions through into the weekend as well. Freezing level should remain under 1000m, but no real signs of snowfall at least until we get into next week.
A high of around 3 degrees in town later today.
Not much else to report really, it's just a case of waiting for the snow.
Planned opening dates for the different resort areas on the mountain:
Niseko Grand Hirafu - hoping for 29th November opening Niseko Annupuri Kokusai - will open as soon as there's enough snow Niseko Village - Monday 1st December Niseko Hanazono - Saturday 6th December Read more ...
