Good morning and a quick update from Geto Kogen.
Unfortunately it has been raining this morning with some limited visibility early on but due to improve; hardly any wind. The forecast tells us to expect rain over the next few days and maybe some snow on the mountain around Saturday.
Golden Week heat up? Not in the first part of the holiday period anyway, maybe when we get into next week.
The 10 day Golden Week holiday period starts from Saturday.
Geto Kogen plans to be open until Monday 6th May.

Yesterday the wind did get rather strong and then we got some spots of rain, and heavier rain overnight. Right now things are rather damp looking but rain is holding off, but there is a chance of some rain at times today and tomorrow.
GALA Yuzawa was closed for the day yesterday and the top lift at Kagura closed around lunchtime - but both resorts appear to be opening as planned this morning.

Lots of cloud, fog
Good morning from Niseko.
Top lifts on hold yesterday and unfortunately there is lift disruption this morning as well - top lift at Hirafu and the Gondola and top lift at Annupuri.
Lots of low cloud around this morning with Annupuri also early on reporting fog.
I feel it's pretty cold too with temperatures lower once again and even the chance of a bit of snowfall higher up on the mountain tomorrow.
Proper Golden Week-like clearer skies and warmer conditions from around Sunday perhaps?

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Thursday 25th April 2019, 8:29am
Cloud, some blue sky
Hello and good morning from Nozawa.
Already Thursday! Golden Week - and those last 10 days of the season - now just around the corner... where did the time go?!
Some spots of rain this morning but I hope that it will dry up for most of the day, though there's rain on the forecast for tomorrow too.
Golden Week often features sunshine and very warm conditions, but the first part of the holiday doesn't look like that this time round - more like some rain and even maybe some flakes of snow up top. Rather cold especially around Saturday. Perhaps it will start to warm up again come next week...

The village shuttle bus will be operating from 27th April until 6th May for Golden Week.
Sadly, it was raining yesterday. And sadly, it's raining this morning too but once again we hope it will not last long but there are some small umbrellas dotted around the forecasts for the next two days (and some snow for higher elevations even!). We might have to wait until next week to get some traditional Golden Week weather.
At the Hakuba Happo-one resort, the Riesen Slalom Course is now closed (it closed at 1pm yesterday), as is the Riesen lift and of course all of the base areas. So you need to start the day and come back down at the end of the day via the Gondola.
At Tsugaike Kogen the Han-no-ki course area is also now closed, leaving us with just the Han-kou and Tsuga-no-mori course areas open at the top.
Route 4 at Hakuba 47 is closed today as they move snow around, which presumably means that it will be available once again.

Hello from Shiga Kogen.
It was cloudy yesterday but we had some rain last night. Glad to report it has stopped and things are looking a bit brighter but there is a chance of more.
It is still keeping pretty cold at the moment - certainly much colder than down below in the valley.
There is even the chance of some snow later tomorrow into Saturday!
More lifts opening up again from the weekend as we enter the 'Golden Week' holiday period.

Yes, unfortunately rain since last night means the resort has been struggling to get lifts open on time this morning but it looks like as of 9:15am the lifts that plan to be operating are operating. Be careful though - visibility is very limited as can be seen from the webcam images below.
The forecast is showing rain today but from tomorrow night and into Saturday... snow, perhaps even down close to base. That is going to be interesting.
