Welcome back to Yuzawa Now!
After a poor summer weather wise (lots of cooler than normal temperatures and lots of rain), autumn has been varied. Some amazing days and then more of the rain. At the moment the colours are all out and it's looking beautiful.
The best part is - the first snow is visible this morning! Snow can be seen on the top of Mt Naeba and nearby Makihata, with some of the runs at the top of Kagura cleasly visible from Muikamachi town down in the Uonuma valley. Whilst the season is still some way off in Yuzawa, it's good to see snow back with us.
Kagura plans to open on November 23rd, although if the snow arrives early it is possible it will open earlier, and most of the town resorts are planning to open in December.
Look out for more updates over the coming weeks as we prepare for the new season. Read more ...

Autumn is still in full swing here, but we've had some more snow up top. The mountains were in cloud all day yesterday and rain fell on the village, so it probably fell then, not overnight.
The first picture is Goryudake, easily recognized from the diamond pattern in the rocks near the top. It's a good five-hour hike from the top of the Goryu/47 resorts.
Second up is Happo and the ridge extending back to Karamatsudake. Snow can be clearly seen on the Usagidaira course (the middle one with the moguls) above the upper gondola station.
The third picture shows the top of Goryu resort where they have their webcam. You can see how far down the snow fell. My estimate would be 1400m.
Finally is a picture of village level looking towards the "Donguri Village" side of Iwatake. Chinese leaves anyone? Read more ...

First proper snow in Hirafu!
Snow has fallen down to mid mountain in Hirafu, and has covered Mt Yotei. Cold rain in the village today, with snow continuing to fall up high.
