Myoko Now!

Weather conditions: Sunny, with a few light clouds
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Snow Japan's weather report was right on the money: it's a beautiful day in Myoko, perfect for some soft snow skiing (why, oh why, did I agree to a neighborhood cleaning morning?). A few clouds have drifted in, but it's definitely sunny with occasional clouds, not the other way around.

We can probably look forward to a faster decline in snowpacks at lower elevations from now on, although the courses are all good right down to the bottom. Just ask all the people filling up the Akakan parking lot....

Heavy rain came in yesterday but enough of that --- Kagura actually got 5cm of fresh snow!

Today the sun is out and it is a very fine day in the region. Started off cold with Kagura reporting -3 degrees at 7am but it has warmed up and in town now it is 13 degrees. Around 8 degres up at Kagura this lunchtime.

Kagura looking quite busy today on the webcams, I just wish I could get up there myself!

More sun tomorrow with a small chance of rain/snow, though that looks like it would be short-lived it it happens.

Kandatsu is open today but will close once again from tomorrow until Thursday. On Friday they will once again open for the beginning of Golden Week and run through until 8th May.

Furano Now!

Sunday 24th April 2011, 17:28pm
Weather conditions: Cloudy
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
We've had beautiful weather all day with highs around 10. Everyone in the town was out for walks, enjoying the sunshine and the triumphant return of Spring. Unfortunately, the excellent weather doesn't look like it will last too much longer. A front moving through the area will bring some precipitation tonight, most likely starting out as a winter mix as temperatures drop to the low single digits. This could mean some snowfall/accumulation for the ski slope, but unfortunately as we head into tomorrow, temperatures will rise and whatever is falling will transition over to an all-rain event by mid-day. Tomorrow should be another warm one, with highs around 11. Winds should stay brisk, whipping around from 5 - 7 m/s. Best bring a waterproof jacket.   Read more ...
