Hakuba Now!

Weather conditions: Sunny and clear
New snowfall: --

Yet another beautiful day here in the Valley, the sun is out and there's barely a cloud in sight. The courses are hard and fast so sharpen your edges, wax your skis & have fun in the sun!

Natural avalanches unlikely. Human triggered avalanches possible.
Use caution in steep terain especially around rocky outcrops, cornices and convexing rolls on unsupported slopes.
A crust covers most of the mountains right now but there are pockets of wind deposited snow in gullies and leaward slopes. Be careful of instability in this layer especially with increasing snow over the January 14th, rain crust. There is some faceting taking place beneath the rain crust as well that is also a concern. Do not be under the assumption that the crust means that the slopes are bomb proof. There is a possibility that avalanches may be set off in the areas described above especially when combined with solar radiation or intense wind loading. Be cautious out there.   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Snowing Lightly
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Damn it's cold out there this morning and still snowing. Luckily there isn't much wind so the -20 temps up top are just bareable. The ongoing snowfalls are maintaining the incredible conditions and bottomless turns can be found throughout the off piste areas. The forecast is for similar conditions to continue with heavier snow possibly moving over the region tomorrow.

Being a Sunday the mountain will be reasonably crowded today and some lift queues may develop. Remember that Hirafu gets the most people so if you find it too crowded head over to Hanazono, Higashiyama or Annupuri to find some freshies. With the light winds this morning all lifts are running allowing access to all the powder stashes. So rug up, get out there and enjoy!

Weather conditions: Clear skies, great carving weather.
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
A blue sky day today with some snow overnight, a great sun-day indeed. Snowfall is expected again tonight, based on various sources, so Monday should be a copy of today. Not very busy here at all today so there are a few very happy skiers and boarders gliding about the place finding fresh tracks with smiles on thier dials. Sunscreen is a good idea today, unless you want to work on your racoon tan.   Read more ...

Weather conditions: Sun
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Only a small amount of snow overnight (less than 15cm at town level), and a fantastic bright start to the day with the sun out and blue skies. Should be great snow conditions out there.

It's one of those days when the forecast of the previous day is more than a little wrong!   Read more ...

About 5cm of snow overnight and lingering on early on, but it is generally another great start to the day and at the moment the sun is out and lots of blue sky. Snow conditions are good and this morning the slopes were not too crowded. It was a very cold morning and still temperatures are well below zero.

Get to the top of Yokoteyama today for some amazing views.    Read more ...
