Nice and sunny, bit of cloud
I can't quite believe that we have already reached the date of a planned opening by the Kumanoyu area of Shiga Kogen - that day was yesterday - but unfortunately we are snow-less at the moment.
No need to worry of course as it is extremely early on, and most of Shiga Kogen doesn't even expect to be open for a few more weeks...
The good news is that a winter cold and hopefully snowy front is approaching and should be with us around Tuesday. Wednesday is a national holiday in Japan and so that would be a good day for Kumanoyu to be able to open. We shall see.
The section of Route 292 between Yokoteyama and Kusatsu in Gunma Prefecture is now closed for the winter season. Read more ...

Cloud and rain
Apologies for the later than planned update, but a few technical issues got in the way.
And unfortunately, there's not much to report in terms of snow. Without any further snowfall, Kagura has delayed opening and have said that they will basically get the lifts moving as soon as there is enough snow.
Let's take a look at the forecast. The next snowfall higher up in the mountains - and therefore Kagura - seems likely around Wednesday and Thursday, so we will have to keep an eye on that over the next few days.
'Yuzawa Now' reports will start becoming more regular from now as the start of the season fast approaches! Read more ...
