Good morning from Yuzawa.
It's Friday! Yesterday was very warm in the sunshine. I sat out in the sun for 30 minutes early afternoon - very pleasant. If only summer could keep to those sort of temperatures (early 20s)! A fair bit of remaining snow will have been melting away in that...
This morning there is a lot of cloud around. It looks like there was some rain overnight but it is not raining at the moment and the chance of any light rain this morning should be gone come this afternoon.
It's definitely cooler as well and it will probably struggle to get much over 10C today.
Sunshine is forecast over the weekend with warmer temps (though not as warm as yesterday, more like mid-teens).
Just three more days left at Kandatsu Kogen and then we'll be left with just GALA Yuzawa and Kagura remaining open from Monday.
Photos from GALA Yuzawa and the now closed base of NASPA Ski Garden (tennis courts!).
Will go back to some Kagura images to the reports soon.

Mostly cloud, bit of sun peeping through
Good morning from Niseko.
Some cloud around yesterday but largely blue skies until mid afternoon and a nice spring day.
Some dark moody looking clouds... and some sunshine peeking through at times too this morning. Perhaps we will see more of the sun; that's what the forecast seems to predict.
It's not as warm this morning and tomorrow will be similar. Temperatures look set to rise once again from around Sunday, though nothing too dramatic for the moment.
So we now have three weekends left for ski lift operations here in Niseko. The mega 10 day 'Golden Week' holiday period this year starts on Saturday 27th (with 29th being the first weekday holiday of course).
Resort operations remain unchanged for the moment and while there is a bit of wind this morning lifts appear to be opening as planned.
Tomorrow the Hirafu Gondola will be moving again and I will of course check on any other changes.

Nozawa Onsen Now!
Friday 19th April 2019, 8:29am
Good morning from Nozawa.
After a very warm day yesterday there is lots of cloud above Nozawa this morning and it is very noticeably colder.
The warm conditions yesterday will surely have wiped out a fair few cm of snow on the lower areas of the mountain - indeed, check out the Hikage webcam image below with a clear difference since yesterday. It was a lovely day though and while it might not be fresh and fluffy, there are no snow cover issues up top.
Expect a bit more of the mountain to be open for the weekend as per last weekend. I'll try and get a report up as early as I can tomorrow.
Oh yes, sun is forecast for tomorrow.
From tomorrow I will take out the 'fresh snowfall' data bit below.

The following courses are open:

As far as I can tell the Utopia A, Challenge, Mizunashi, Bunabayashi, Schneider (part), Rinkan (Forest) and Rinkan shortcut courses are also available for coming down the mountain. Other courses now closed. Free shuttle bus from Isemiya to Nagasaka available.
The Uenotaira Cross country course (3km) and Snow Park are both open.
The village shuttle bus will be operating from 27th April until 6th May for Golden Week.
Parking is now free every day.
Spring season cheaper lift tickets are now in effect (3700 yen adult one day; 2700 yen adult half day).
All subject to change of course due to conditions.
After a sunny and very spring like warm day yesterday, it seems we got some rain overnight/very early morning but it is now just mostly cloudy. And some angry looking clouds too, making some areas look rather dark and dull this morning. But they're due to get less scary looking as the day goes on and in fact the sun is already trying to break through some of the clouds. It is noticeably not as warm this morning.
Come tomorrow we will be back to clearer skies and sunshine.
It looks like the top lifts at Happo-one are on hold at the start of the day and the official Tsugaike Kogen site doesn't show any lifts moving. No other info available as I put this report together. Windy?

Good morning from Zao.

Shiga Kogen Now!
Friday 19th April 2019, 9:21am
Good morning from Shiga Kogen.
Clearer and warmer yesterday, cloudier and cooler today. A little rain/sleet/light snow very early morning but the roads are clear, a bit wet in places.
The section of Route 292 road that connects the Yokoteyama area of Shiga Kogen with Kusatsu in Gunma Prefecture opens in less than one hour from now, with the opening ceremony due at 10:00am this morning. That means that from later on today you will be able to get to Shiga Kogen via Route 292 in Gunma Prefecture. Hurray!
BUT... if you do plan to come here to ski or board using that route, be aware that the it can quickly be closed at short notice during this first period if it gets icy or a little snow falls overnight. That is I believe because it is open for all normal vehicles that don't without snow tyres that are coming for general sightseeing. In such circumstance it can be a gamble.
More ski lifts and areas plan to be open for the weekend, details as below and of course subject to change.
The forecast is currently for sunny conditions tomorrow with more cloud (with a chance of some spots of rain) on Sunday.
The next Shiga Kogen update and data check will be with you early next week.
I hope you have a good weekend!
