Snow's on the way again this afternoon, but the 80cm of Monday has become a crusty memory as temps hit -10 last night, freezing the powder. Avalanche warnings are there, but the top lifts are wide open. Alot of snow is still slated for the next few days. Read more ...

Another 15-20cm of new snow overnight, just enough to cover most of yesterdays tracks and keep surface conditions at their powdery best. The winds have eased and the snowpack has stabilized significantly so the top lifts and peak gates are expected to open later today. I'm guessing there'll be quite a queue at the King #4 lift and a race for peak to get first tracks. The Annupuri ski area has just cracked 2m at the base and is closing in on the 4m mark up top putting it right up there with the deepest base of any ski area in the world currently. Snow showers will continue today and tomorrow and temperatures will remain well below freezing. Conditions just don't get much better than they are currently. Tomorrow I'll be heading off early to Rusutsu so probably won't get the report updated till later in the day. I'm sure it'll just be much of the same though with more snow and awesome conditions.
Just a dusting of new snow this morning. Snowing lightly right now, with up to 6 cm forecast for the rest of the day. It's nice and cold, and the sun is actually breaking through a bit. Winds are very light.
Naeba appears to... No actually it doesn't. Naeba is shrouded in cloud this morning and so is not even able to appear. Again a really white sky today whilst the sun is trying it's best to brighten things up, shadows are forming behind the vertical objects and so might be lucky enough to get some patched of good visibility today.
Snow is falling ever so lightly whilst the moderate wind keeps things on the move. There's not really any new snow to speak of since yesterday, just a dusting here and there.
Snowmen have been on the forecast but they haven't been materialising as anything significant around town...a light dusting on the cars is all we were blessed with this morning and Goryu reported 2 cms of fresh on top.
Still waiting for the ice layer left by the rain to mellow out a bit before really getting into it.
We had a cold snap the last couple of nights but this seems to be coming to a halt for now with warm temperatures forecast for Friday.
Snow is still on the radar beginning tonight through to tomorrow morning...it would be nice to see something significant....
Another good start to the day in Nozawa. Although snow did not fall through the afternoon and evening as predicted yesterday, good snow was falling on the mountain and in the village for at least three hours this morning. Light snow continues to fall on the mountain now. It is currently -1C in the village and -9C on the summit and there is a 25km/h Northwesterly blowing. Base depths on the mountain have compacted slightly since yesterday and at Yamabiko there is 200cm and 155cm at Uenotaira.
The outlook is improving with the freezing level falling lower than originally expected on thursday. Between now and Saturday morning 50cm is expected to fall high on the mountain. Some rain is still expected in the village and the bottom of the resort Friday morning. Read more ...

Yesterday was a fine one to be out enjoying all that new snow. There was around 30cm or so new to play in and at times the skies cleared and even blue skies made an appearance for a short while. It was generally on and off with the snow though in town, though higher up the snow continued to fall. It eased off later on in the evening though and overnight just a sprinkling of snow.
This morning there have been snow clouds around and snow falling in the region, though not heavy. It is forecast to continue through today and into tomorrow morning.
Currently it is 0 degrees in Yuzawa.
Nighta tonight is at the following resorts in Yuzawa: Naeba Iwappara
In Minamiuonuma just to the north, nighta at: Ishiuchi Maruyama Centleisure Maiko Joetsu Kokusai
Not a huge amount of fresh snow in Shiga Kogen which has been slightly disapointing, but there has been new cover and conditions right now are good out there. This morning, contrary to the forecast, the weather is fine and looks like it will stay that way for a while though snow clouds might be back with us tonight and then on Friday with some decent snowfall forecast for then so running up to the weekend things should be looking good.
The following resort plans to be open for nighta tonight: Ichinose Family
Official resort snow depths as of 18th February 09:
Yesterday the snow stopped in the afternoon and restarted late in the evening. It continues to snow today but is very light at the valley level. Tenjin has reported 20cm of fresh snow overnight which means up to 50cm of fresh in places.
It looks like the snow will continue for the remainder of the day today and through until tomorrow morning. Friday looks like the upper mountains will get a decent dump of snow while there may be some rain at lower areas of the valley. Saturday is looking like more snow.
This is the weekend to ride! Cancel other plans and get up to Minakami, it may be one of the last good snow weekends! Read more ...
