Yuzawa Now!

Friday 18th April 2008, 7:52am
Weather conditions: Light rain, cloud
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Yesterday never ended up being a bluebird day, but it did brighten up a fair bit until the evening when light rain started. Into the night and that turned into fairly heavy rain accompanied with some very strong winds. This morning just light rain early on, but the winds are still blowing about.

The Gala Yuzawa and Tashiro Kagura resort areas are closed today due to the winds, with Kagura waiting on whether to open Mitsumata or not (and will open if the winds calm down).

Right now it is looking likely that tomorrow will be mostly cloud, but there is a chance of rain once again. We'll update this page later on this evening with the latest.   Read more ...

Shiga Kogen Now!

Friday 18th April 2008, 8:32am
Weather conditions: Cloud, rain, strong winds
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
A bit of a wet morning and certainly a windy one. Rain and wind overnight which unfortunately didn't turn into snow - a bit of sleet this morning in higher areas but generally rain and wet.

As far as we can confirm, the following resort areas and lifts are operating early on this morning - less than usual for a weekday due to the strong winds this morning.

Mammoth (2 lifts)
Ichinose Family (2 lifts)

If the wind dies down, the usual weekday lifts might well open up.

5 degrees at Kagura and after a night of rain and strong winds, right now due to the winds none of the Kagura resort areas are open. The resort have announced that Tashiro Kagura will be closed today, but if conditions improve then the Mitsumata area may open later on.

Here in Naeba, the gondola is also not operating early this morning with only two lifts moving early on:

Number 3 quad lift
Number 4 romance (pair) lift

Hopefully conditions should improve for the weekend...   Read more ...

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Friday 18th April 2008, 8:45am
Weather conditions: Cloud
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
There is still a lot of cloud around, but it is brighter this morning. Overnight we had some fairly strong winds and rain falling, but that has for the most part cleared up this morning though there are some fairly gusty winds around from time to time.

Weekday operations are now in effect, meaning that the following lifts are operating at the resort:

Nagasaka Gondola (both sections)
Yamabiko Number 2 Four lift
Yamabiko Four lift

The snow has pretty much totally disappeared from the village area now and also nearly completely gone from the lower slopes of the resort - there is still over 2 meters at the top of the mountain though.   Read more ...

Winds are moderate at the moment but are looking to ease throughout the day.

The forecast for the next couple of days is looking good with sunshine on the way.   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Friday 18th April 2008, 9:30am
Weather conditions: High cloud with some light rain
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Rain came in yesterday and hammered down through the night and we're experiencing light showers this morning. The rain seems to have brought more green into Hakuba already which is nice to sakura here still for a while though.

It's still possible to ski to the bottom at Goryu though they are considering whether to keep the bottom run open past this weekend. As most years 47 still has clean runs to the bottom.
