Snowing and overcast
UNNN...REALLLLL!!! We are having an awesome season so far. Over the last 2 weeks we have had only 3 partially sunny days and the rest have all been snow days. Yesterday on the slopes was one of the best days, most people have had in their LIVES - Anywhere! There were about 10 people on the whole of Happo yesterday and all the powder you could digest. Face shots will still abound today for the ones lucky enough to be riding in Hakuba. Overnight the snows slowed and once again this morning it is snowing of course! The rate of snow fall is at 2 cm an hour and no wind to speak of in the valley or on the hills. Temperatures are perfect for comfort and light fluffy snows on the slopes. Make sure to zip up those pits and don't forget your goggles and quite possibly a spare pair as a crash or just the excited sweat off your brow may decrease your visibility and and over all fun on the slopes.

Sun, blue skies. Beautiful morning.
Cloud was forecast, but you'd be hard to find one this morning. It's very bright, it's sunny, there are blue skies all around. It is just such a perfect day to be out on the slopes (if they don't get too crowded anyway!)
That heavy snow they were talking about last night looks set to arrive later on today and so there is a good chance the clouds will be moving in during the afternoon. It's a cold and icy start, below zero, but has already crept above that.
As we mentioned yesterday, a few more places have opened up for the first time today - including three just to the north of Yuzawa - Joetsu Kokusai, Ishiuchi Maruyama and Maiko. Read more ...
Nozawa Onsen Now!
Saturday 17th December 2005, 10:28am
It's one of those bright and sunny mornings in Nozawa with icy cold conditions early on making the roads more than a bit dangerous. But it is a fine day to be out on the slopes. The areas of the resort open as of today are: Yamabiko, Uenodaira, Paradise, Rinkan Skyline, Challenge, Utopia, Schneider, Hikage.
Once again no new snow to report in the region overnight and another morning of fine sunny weather. More of the resort areas are now opening up with most main parts of Shiga Kogen now open. We're still not fully open though and need a bit more snow for some of the runs to be ready.
What a crazy place this is, at 350m above sea level and there is fantastic powder everywhere! Now head up the mountain and you'll be riding in the best snow you can imagine! It is just dumping day after day right now! There is a low camped of the coast and is feeding a great combination of cold air and moisture on the Niseko area. Some wind up high on the mountain today made for some chilly conditions but when the snow is this deep you tend to forget about those things. More snow on the way so buckle up if your are on your way, for the powder ride of your life! Read more ...
