Yuzawa Now!

Sunday 17th April 2011, 10:32am
Weather conditions: Sun
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
We did get some rain yesterday along with strong winds blowing around for a while but things had cleared up by evening. It got quite cold overnight though and while the day started off with a fair bit of cloud hanging on they have moved on now and it's blue skies once again now. It isn't going to be as warm today with a high of around 10 degrees, and obviously colder up at Kagura.

Tomorrow should be quite decent as well but still Tuesday evening into Wednesday is still looking promising for some snowfall up at Kagura. It will most likely be nasty wet rain down below but a decent cover of new snow is looking possible.

Furano Now!

Sunday 17th April 2011, 10:53am
Weather conditions: Snow
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Ladies and gentlemen, yesterday and today's weather could not possibly be more different. Whereas Saturday saw a balmy 15 degree rain storm sweep through the area, Furano awoke to what could possibly be the last snow storm of the season! Winds changed over night and are currently howling out of the North, pushing temps just below freezing. It's been snowing buckets since the wee hours of the morning, but the recent warm weather is keeping it from accumulating too much down in the village. HOWEVER, on the Furano Zone side of the mountain there is still a good 80cm+ of base snow, so we can hope for some significant accumulation in the resort. If ever there were a day for fresh powder action in April, it is today, and it is in Furano.

The weather forecast threatens warmer temperatures for the afternoon accompanied by a changeover to rain, but the way things are snowing right now, I wouldn't be surprised if it kept snowing at this rate for the rest of the day. Get out there and enjoy it!   Read more ...

Hakuba Now!

Sunday 17th April 2011, 11:29am
Weather conditions: Sun, bluebird
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
The wet conditions are gone, we are all dried up and it is a spectacular morning once again in Hakuba. Blue skies all around and not a cloud in sight and a high into double digits this lunchtime. Tomorrow will also likely be similar - at least to start with, as rain is due later on and into Tuesday and it will be getting a lot colder. As I mentioned in a previous report, we can perhaps expect some moderate snowfall on the upper slopes as it rains lower down. Fingers crossed!

Myoko Now!

Sunday 17th April 2011, 11:40am
Weather conditions: Clear
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
We have had a run of fine clear days since the last report, aside from yesterday, and today is more sun and clear skies. The mountain is looking magnificent. Temperatures in Myoko are into double digits and still lower than that on the mountain of course, but still we are certainly in full on spring ski mode now.

More of the same is forecast for tomorrow in the daytime but later on in the day rain is expected in town and even a chance it seems of some fairly decent snowfall at higher elevations. We shall just have to wait and see if that comes off!
