Shiga Kogen Now!
Friday 15th May 2015, 8:45am
We survived that typhoon (which had actually been downgraded before it passed the region) but with warm temperatures continuing the snow is getting thinner on the ground each day.
Shibutoge reports an official snow depth of 25cm. Note that it's 0cm by the sides of the run that remains open. Very limited but if you want that very last late slide of the season there's still a chance...
The Shibutoge pair lift remains operating however, and plans to do so until the end of Sunday... which will be the very last day of the season for the lifts here in Shiga Kogen. 3 days to go including today.
The sun is out and it's warm. There might be some rain later today and overnight but by the time we get to Sunday clearer skies should be back.
I'll wrap up the season with a last report early next week. Read more ...

Sunny and hot
Like yesterday, there's lots of sunshine this morning to start the day off. It feels warm from the get-go this morning and temperatures closing in on 30 degeees are expected today down at town level. Expect temperatures well into the 20s even up at Kagura.
Some rain is expected tonight, possibly into tomorrow morning, and while we may end up with the sun out again tomorrow it is expected to be much cooler than today.
Fine weather is also currently forecast for Sunday.
Mitsumata Ropeway opens at 7:30am on Saturdays and Sundays; at 8am on weekdays.
