Niseko Now!

Wednesday 15th April 2015, 8:40am
Weather conditions: Cloudy and wet
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 350cm
Yesterday I said that rainfall was expected, and it's raining now. Just light for the moment but heavier rain expected around mid-day and the afternoon.

Hopefully it should be clearing up before tomorrow morning with better conditions expected - mostly cloudy but the chance of some sunshine.

Still rather mild and not getting as cold as we perhaps expected today.

More rain is lined up for the end of the week but with colder conditions there might be a chance of some light snow in higher areas.

Planned resort operations for the rest of the season - wind and snow conditions aside may mean changes on any given day, but these are the plans!

Yuzawa Now!

Wednesday 15th April 2015, 8:50am
Weather conditions: Cloud, clearer over Naeba area
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 0cm
Lots of cloud and eventually rain again yesterday, not getting as warm as we were expecting. Didn't feel like it anyway. Lots of fog last night too.

This morning as of 9am it's just under 10 degrees after only getting down to about 7 degrees overnight.

Conditions are just cloudy for the moment though I can see from webcams that there's blue sky above Naeba and Kagura, so maybe it'll clear up. The forecast tells us to expect rain though, so perhaps it'll be the other way round.

Kagura and GALA Yuzawa open as planned this morning. Note that the downhill course (Falcon) at GALA Yuzawa is now closed and so you need to get the Gondola back down to base.

And talking of Kagura, they have lost 20cm from their official snow depth, which was officially stuck on 350cm for what seems like a few months!

The Kagura Park plans to open this morning.

Official snow depths:
** General opening status - any unplanned closures will be mentioned in above report.

GALA Yuzawa:
Official snow depth of 260cm.
The Central Area and most of the North Area.
The South Area is now closed.
The downhill course is also now closed - get down back to base using the Gondola.

Official snow depth of 330cm.
All three main areas of Kagura remain pretty much fully open.
The 'Kagura Park' plans to re-open today (15th)

Planned closing dates for resorts in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma region
Information as currently available and of course subject to change depending on conditions. Resorts not mentioned below are now closed.

Open until Wednesday May 6th:

- Naeba (*closed weekdays, open ONLY on weekends and holidays from April 5th [except April 29th])
- GALA Yuzawa
- Kagura (Tashiro)

Open until Sunday May 31st:

- Kagura (Mitsumata)   Read more ...

Furano Now!

Wednesday 15th April 2015, 9:06am
Weather conditions: Cloud cover/overcast
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 140cm
The resort has experienced some strong winds this morning, but the wind is reducing and will continue to die down as the day rolls on. There are no blue skies to be seen but the cloud cover is high and visibility has not been effected. It is another warm day and the snow conditions will reflect this with a wet and slushy snow pack. There is still great skiing to be had on the Furano Zone with the mountain skiable from top to base. Rain is expected to hit us this morning with heavy falls after midday, and then light rain continuing through until Saturday.    Read more ...

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Wednesday 15th April 2015, 9:09am
Weather conditions: Cloud lower, blue sky higher
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 205cm
Wasn't expecting blue skies this morning but that's what we have got over Nozawa at the moment, with lots of low lying cloud covering large parts of the valley lower down. Making for some fine views from the upper areas of the mountain early this morning.

Rain is on the forecast though so unless it's wrong it'll be clouding over soon enough.

Clearer skies and sun forecast for tomorrow along with temps reaching about 15C.

Uenotaira - 205cm
