Still chilly here today, especially as the wind is blowing a bit. Another light dusting last night and the trees up high are looking wintery again. The blossoms that were coming out are looking a little worse for wear after a couple of cold days.
The cloud is due to stick around for the whole day today and it is set to be another cold one again tomorrow with the possibility of snow tomorrow night. Temperatures are set to get into double figures again over the weekend so it is just a case of wrapping up until then.
It is a bit wet in town this morning but the mountains close down to town level have had a sprinkling of snow overnight and both Kagura - fully open this morning - and Gala Yuzawa will have got a few cm or so of new snow.
Cloud is currently forecast for tomorrow with clearer weather likely over the weekend.
Official resort snow depths @ 15th April 10, AM: Kagura: 320cm Kagura - Tashiro: 270cm GALA Yuzawa: 150cm
Planned closing dates at resorts in Yuzawa:
Wednesday 5th May 2010: Gala Yuzawa Kagura (Tashiro Area)
Just a short update for anyone who had their eyes on the weather, a sprinkling of snow overnight and cold weather but warm enough by 8AM for melting out of the trees in the valley and barely any evidence apart from the sound of dripping by 9. It won't add to the snowpack but good cruising conditions up top this morning. Hakuba 47 are even reporting up to 10cm of fresh snow on upper slopes this morning.
Warming forecast from Saturday and temperatures looking to get up to 19 degrees by the end of next week.

A good fall of late season snow occured overnight, leaving 7cm in the village. It continued to snow through the morning but at a lighter rate than over night. With no wind, good visibility and a nice fresh layer of snow things looked very promising.
Unfortunately the good news was foiled by a breakdown of Furano Ropeway which will be out of action for the whole day. The sole operating lift is the Prince Romance lift. Read more ...
