Well the first snow to hit the resorts has arrived and that tells us that the season of the slippery white stuff is soon to be upon us. But all said it will be a few weeks still before we will see a significant amount fall.
The snow should fall in the valley within the week so we should see the slopes opening up by the first weekend of December (Sunday the 5th). Hakuba 47 claims Dec. 1st for it’s opening day but this is probably wishful thinking, but who knows - stranger things have happened.
So we are talking 2 weeks away so get your gear together, start doing squats for those out-of-shape thigh muscles and get ready to make your way to the Japan Alps for some mountain riding! Unfortunately, I don't think that Tateyama will hold any good riding for early season this year, but we'll be sure to make some great turns up there this spring.
