We have windy conditions this this morning and currently the Gondola and top Central Number 4 lifts are not operating so there's just the three lifts.
There are not many people around at all at the moment, but perhaps there will be more coming here over the weekend.
Unfortunately it seems we might get rained on, the rain is due from later in the day tomorrow and into Sunday.
Official snow depth:
Planned lift operations (subject to change):
- APPI Gondola ** ON HOLD THIS MORNING DUE TO WIND - Central number 1 lift - Central number 2 lift - Central number 3A lift - Central number 4 lift ** ON HOLD THIS MORNING DUE TO WIND

Nozawa Onsen Now!

Fine, sun, cloud
Good morning from Nozawa.
A mix of blue sky and cloud this morning and the sun is out. It is going to be somewhat colder today - not rising to double digits - but tomorrow should be a little warmer. Some forecasts say there is a chance of rain over the weekend so we'll need to look out for that.
From today until Sunday you can try riding some new 18-19 season gear. Head up to the top Yamabiko area if you are interested.
I'm a bit confused about the status of the Skyline connecting pair lift this morning. The resort seems to be saying it that will be open today, but it's not showing that on the lift status page. So I'm not sure what is going on there. Perhaps something to do with the new gear event that I mentioned above? I will try to find out.
Friday 13th April 2018
Fresh snowfall since yesterday as reported by the resort:
- Nagasaka Gondola - Yamabiko Four - Yamabiko Number 2 Four - Skyline pair (?)
The following courses should be open today:
- Yamabiko - Kokenashi - Uenotaira - Paradise - Bunabayashi (to mid station) - Rinkan (to Isemiya) - Get back to base via the Rinkan course or using the Gondola - Shuttle bus available from the bottom of Rinkan to Nagasaka car park
General resort operations information until Sunday 6th May:
The Gondola will be open from 8:10am daily; The Number 1 car park will be free daily; There will be no village shuttle bus between 2nd April and 27th April; Nozawa Onsen plans to remain open until Sunday 6th May. Read more ...

Good morning from Yuzawa.
The big news this morning is that the GALA Yuzawa resort has announced that they will be open until Sunday 22nd April - rather than the initially planned 6th May. As you might expect, the reason being given is that since March we have had little fresh snow and warmer conditions are affecting snow conditions. So just over one week left at GALA and from Monday 23rd April we will be down to only the Kagura resort being open. It will be interesting to see if Kagura can open as long as initially planned.
Anyway, on to the weather and as I write that I can hear some wind making some howling sounds. At the time of writing that does not seem to be an issue with the resorts opening...
It is a mostly cloudy start to the day and it definitely feels colder than it has been. Tomorrow should be warmer and we might get to see more sunshine, but rain later on and perhaps into Sunday.
Naeba plans to re-open for the weekend.
* Kandatsu Kogen, GALA Yuzawa and Kagura remain open every day. * Naeba is will re-open on weekends and over Golden Week. * Further details below. * Yuzawa Now reports will continue to be posted daily until 6th May.

It's Friday and it's the 13th. Oooh, scary!
Putting aside my absolutely not unfounded fears for the day, and after a day of changeable conditions yesterday there's a dusting of snow on the ground here this morning. Just a dusting. Well, there was - it's gone now. But I wonder if there might be a little more higher up.
And it does indeed feel fairly cold at the start of the day.
For the moment it is generally cloudy but we might get to enjoy some sunshine during the day.
Hey, that large mound of snow on the third webcam has suddenly disappeared. Interesting. I think the big diggers got to it.
Friday 13th April 2018
Resort specific information (operations subject to change):
- Ace Family quad (* operating daily until 15th April) - Ace Number 2 Center Four (* operating daily until 6th May) - King Number 3 (* operating daily until 6th May) - King Number 4 (* operating daily until 6th May) - Hirafu Gondola CLOSED TODAY (* operating only on 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd April & 28th April - 6th May)
- Most of Hirafu remains open - Lower part of Super closed - All of the Hanazono area is closed
There is a lot of cloud around this morning, but some blue sky too with just a light wind. And that is pretty much what the forecast is for the day too. It's keeping pretty cold as well, so morning conditions should be fun.
Still a chance of some (possibly) heavy rain later tomorrow and into Sunday. Hopefully not too much.

Mostly clear blue skies and sun
Good morning from Hakuba.
I was actually in Nagano for most of the day yesterday so didn't make it out on the mountain. I don't think they were kidding me, but a friend said they got 'hail'-ed on yesterday! It did seem to be rather mixed weather conditions during the day, for sure.
This morning there is some cloud hanging around the mountain peaks but it is mostly clear blue skies and sunshine. A lovely morning and feels relatively chilly and the temp at village level only due to rise to around 10C.
Tomorrow should be a bit warmer but later in the day there's some rain there on the forecast. Some showing 'heavy' rain.
I'll update you again tomorrow, of course.
The four ski resorts that remain open all plan to remain at least part open until Sunday 6th May.
Planned ski resort operations on Friday 13th April 2018:
We are checking the below information every morning, but please note that resort operations are beyond our control (obviously!) and are totally subject to change!

- Gondola - Han-no-ki high speed pair - Tsuga Number 1 & 2 pair - Tsugaike Ropeway
- Top Tsuga-no-mori, Han-kou, Han-no-ki areas and Karamatsu remain open - You can still ride back down to Gondola base via Karamatsu - The Tsugaike Ropeway plans to be open daily until 6th May - The Ropeway is open only for hiking and climbing; a special form must be submitted
Since my last report we have had some rain but yesterday was fine weather.
It's actually quite cold this morning but generally fine weather again, so it should be a nice day to be out.
Over the weekend (later tomorrow?) it looks like there is a chance of some rain, perhaps even some snow higher up if we are lucky.
A number of ski lifts will be opening up again for the weekend - for planned lift operation details please see below.

Good morning from Naeba.
It is cloudy this morning. Looks like we won't be able to avoid rain here later tomorrow and perhaps Sunday morning. So if the forecasts are right, early tomorrow morning would be the best choice over the weekend.
Naeba is of course still closed today (Friday), but plans to re-open tomorrow and Sunday.
The latest info seems to be this:
The Prince Number 2 Gondola, Takenokodaira romance lift and Daishamen romance lifts should be operating as planned.
With the snow drying up from lower slopes, we won't be able to ski or board back down to base and will need to take the Gondola back down from the courses that will be open - Takenokodaira and Daishamen.
See below for image provided by the resort.
Next 'Naeba Now' update planned next week.
Please see the Yuzawa Now reports for daily updates from Yuzawa town.

Weather has been up and down all week in the mountains, some rain, some warm days and some cool ones too.
It's simply horrible here this morning. Wind roaring down the valley and knocking over pot plants. There has been the odd sprinkle of rain, graupel and even a little of what feels like snow and its freezing outside!
Looks like it is actually snowing up on the mountain with 1cm reported. Pity the diggers who are 700m up the mountain putting the finishing touches on the Minakami Vibes bowl at Tenjin this morning. There is drone footage of what they've constructed and it looks unbelievable and it can be seen on a temporary facebook account here.
Can't seem to get a recent photo yet unfortunately but Minakami Vibes is tomorrow and Sunday at Tenjindaira, the last resort open in the area. Weather looks overcast tomorrow but some rain is forecast for Sunday so tomorrow is really the day. Elementary school kids have been free on the mountain all month but they will be Y2000 tomorrow and Sunday due to the event.
Tenjin are still planning to run through May 6th and they probably have the snow to do it.
Please note that the snowfall numbers posted in this report will be observed from close to the base Tenjindaira Ropeway station - which is often much more than in the central town area of Minakami. Read more ...
