Blowing a gale and drizzle
Yesterday was quite a nice day with a little high cloud and mild temps. Last night though the wind really strenghthened and this morning it is blowing a gale and there's been some sleet earlier on which has now turned to an icy drizzle. Heavier precipitation is expected later through the day and is expected to turn to snow overnight. It has been snowing higher up on the mountain. Due to the winds the only lift operating in Hirafu currently is the Family Lift. There's a few more open in Annupuri. You would have to be seriously desperate though to think about heading up for a ski in this weather.
Just a note on ongoing reporting for the remainder of the season. As there's generally not much new snow to report at this time of year I'm unlikely to post reports daily. I'll definitely get a few reports up a week though and will report any snow events that do occur.
It only really started raining later on in the day yesterday but it did and there were some very strong winds as well.
This morning things are much calmer, the sun is out and there are fair skies. It is much warmer too - 14 degrees already, with a high of around 18 likely - though we might see more rain by the end of the day and tomorrow, as well as colder temperatures again. It's all up and down at the moment!
Kagura and Gala Yuzawa are both open as normal today.
After Friday it seems we might be on for a run of fine, sunny days.
Official resort snow depths @ 13th April 10, AM: Kagura: 320cm Kagura - Tashiro: 270cm GALA Yuzawa: 170cm

Furano woke up to exremely strong wind this morning with a small amount of rain coming and going. Because of the winds, the only lift operating today is the Prince Romance Lift. The weatherman is predicting rain tomorrow morning, turning into snow later in the day. Read more ...

A beautiful spring day in Minakami today. Warm temperatures, blue skies and the first blossoms starting to appear on the trees. Makes a nice change from the light rain and strong winds we had yesterday but that looks as if it could be on the way back.
Tenjin have now closed the run to the bottom so it'll be downloading on the ropeway from now on.
