It is less hazy this morning but the clouds that gathered yesterday have gont and the blue skies are back with us. It is going to be yet another fine and warm day - it has been quite a stretch of good weather this last couple of weeks.

It is already 15 degrees and should rise to somewhere around 22 later on in the day.

It may well be coming to an end though soon with a good chance of rain tomorrow afternoon and evening and it won't quite be as warm as it has been.

So from today we are left with just GALA Yuzawa, Naeba and Kagura resorts open in the region.

Myoko Now!

Monday 13th April 2009, 9:44am
Weather conditions: Fine, sunny
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
We have had more fine spring weather in Myoko since the last report with days of sun, fine blue skies and warm temperatures the norm with temperatures rising to over 20 degrees on many days in the town area.... snow melt is continuing at full speed! There's still a lot left though on the mountainside for those wanting to enjoy some spring skiing or snowboarding.

The forecast for tomorrow is cloud followed by rain and then perhaps a few days of cloud lined up, though it is looking unlikely that we will get much precipitation in the coming week.

Niseko Now!

Monday 13th April 2009, 10:41am
Weather conditions: Clear
New snowfall: --
Snow depth: --
Been very mild and sunny over the last few days and snow melt is proceeding rapidly, especially at lower levels. The fields on the plains are starting to lose their winter mantle but the mountain still has top to bottom cover.
Today is expected to get up into the mid teens and remain sunny but some rain is forecast to come in later tomorrow with cooler air coming through in it's wake. Thursday is expected to be quite cool and temps should remain below freezing on the upper mountain although most of the precipitation will have moved through so no snow is expected.
Beyond that fine and warmer weather will return to the region getting back up into the lower teens at village level.
By the end of this week most of the snow will have melted off the plains around Kutchan so the farmers can finally start sowing their crops meaning business at the local Pachinko parlors will drop dramatically. It's going to be nice though to finally see some green in the landscape again. It's great having the contrast of snow covered mountains rising above green fields. I love Spring!

Current Official Snow Depths:

Grand Hirafu:
Top - 300cm
Bottom - 70cm

Niseko Village:
No longer updating snow depth

Annupuri:
Top - 270cm
Bottom - 100cm
