Yuzawa Now!

Sunday 12th April 2020, 8:10am
Weather conditions: Cloud, fine
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: --
Good morning from Yuzawa.

It is a fine morning. There's a fair amount of cloud around, but some blue sky too and it is generally bright.

It might have been raining in town later in the day yesterday, but Kagura are once again reporting 5cm of snowfall, presumably up top.

GALA Yuzawa have actually increased their official snow depth, so it sounds like there should be something of a fresh layer up there too.

Today is of course the last day of the season for the GALA Yuzawa resort. Kind of pleased for them that the weather looks like it is going to cooperate.

And then from tomorrow, just Kagura will remain open. And as I mentioned in the report yesterday, while they are open they are asking people from certain areas to refrain from visiting.

Forecast for tomorrow is currently cloud with a chance of rain.

Hakuba Now!

Sunday 12th April 2020, 8:33am
Weather conditions: Light blue sky and cloud
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: --
Good morning from Hakuba.

I wasn't planning on a report this morning, but I have important news.

Today is going to be the last day of the season for Hakuba 47 and Hakuba Goryu.

They are saying that with the snow on the slopes down to base getting thin on the ground, narrow and close to closing, people would be needing to get the gondola lifts back down to base. Increased congestion due to people waiting for the gondola is not ideal.

Some may well be disappointed.

Some are happy and relieved to hear that decision being made.

So, this all means that today is officially the last day of the season here in Hakuba.

It also means that my reporting is also effectively over for the season. I will come back with a final report - just give me a few days to (have a rest and) collect my thoughts.

I will of course put the final snowfall data table back up when I post that last report.

Today is the last day of the season for Hakuba 47 and Hakuba Goryu.
